Fellow celebrities, comedians, and friends of Norm Macdonald have paid tribute to the late comedian after his passing. Macdonald passed away on September 14 at the age of 61 after a private, decade-long battle with cancer. He has long been an influence to a myriad of stand-ups beyond his generation, and numerous colleagues and fans took to social media to express their respect and admiration for his career and what he has meant to them.

Famous for his deadpan and blunt style of humor, Macdonald is perhaps best known for his time on Saturday Night Live, where he served as a cast member from 1993 to 1998 and anchored the Weekend Update segment for three years. He has also made multiple guest appearances on comedies such as The Drew Carey Show, My Name Is Earl, and The Middle, as well as starring in his own comedy series The Norm Show and A Minute with Stan Hooper. He has performed two stand-up specials, done various voiceovers for Mike Tyson Mysteries, The Orville, and Klaus, and is a frequent talk show guest on numerous late night shows, while going on to later host his own talk show on Netflix and a video podcast.

They also speak to his grace and hilarity offstage and in his personal life. Macdonald has never been known to be subservient to rules or compromise his work, and persisted with boldness and bravery in his humor, which makes him a unique talent.
