Universal unveils a new Nope poster teasing Jordan Peele's horror movie villains seemingly as aliens with a floating horse and small alien figure. Peele has put together an ensemble roster for his new film, including reuniting with Get Out Academy Award nominee Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Euphoria's Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea and Michael Wincott. Development on Nope was first announced in late 2020 with Peele's Monkeypaw Productions partnering with Universal Pictures under its exclusive deal with the studio.

Nope revolves around Kaluuya's James and Palmer's Jill Underwood, owners of the only Black-owned horse training ranch for Hollywood located in a small inland California town. The two and the other residents of the town find themselves at the center of a mysterious and abnormal event threatening to upend their lives quite literally. With production having ran for June to November 2021, Nope is set to hit theaters this July.

With just a few months remaining until the film's arrival, Universal has released a new Nope poster. The key art sees a horse floating towards an ominous dark cloud with a variety of items around it, including little extraterrestrial toy figures, seemingly teasing aliens as Jordan Peele's horror movie villains. Check out the new poster below:

Nope Poster

The latest Nope poster may come as the closest confirmation of aliens being the main villain for Peele's new horror film since the recent trailers seemingly pointed towards the extraterrestrial threat. The dark cloud motif has been utilized for both the original poster and footage for the film, with the official trailer for the film seeing Kaluuya's character witnessing what appears to be a flying saucer above his truck in the middle of a rainstorm. The moment in the trailer linked to Nope's original poster which saw a lone cloud dragging a party string underneath it, which the UFO also had attached in the footage.

Outside of the obvious imagery of the horse floating up towards the cloud, the new Nope poster also seems to confirm its alien villains with the various toy figures floating around the animal. The design of the little plush figures is reminiscent of what appeared to be an alien figure that was seen in the Nope trailer creepily stalking through the stalls of the Underwood's ranch, though knowing Peele's unique social commentary twists on iconic horror tropes, these figures could be revealed to be a more devastating threat. Only time will tell who the real villains are when Nope hits theaters on July 22.
