The first Nope teaser arrives revealing the first footage of Jordan Peele's new horror movie ahead of the first trailer's premiere at the Super Bowl. Peele first rose to stardom in the horror genre with his Oscar-winning directorial debut, Get Out, breaking away from the comedy image he was well-known for with his work on the hit sketch shows MadTV and Key & Peele. Following Get Out's success, Peele would return to the director's chair for the horror-thriller Us, which saw a similar critical and commercial response though would be looked over come awards season in 2019.

Development on Nope was first announced in late 2020 as Peele reunited with Universal Pictures for a then-untitled horror film that he would be writing, directing and producing and a Summer 2022 release date set. Casting for the film would begin the following year as Peele began building an ensemble roster including Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Barbie Ferreira, Brandon Perea and Michael Wincott. Production on Nope would kick off in June 2021 and wrap the following November and now audiences are getting their exciting first glimpse at the project.

With only a few days remaining until the game airs, Universal Pictures has revealed the first Nope teaser. Given the first trailer is set to premiere during the Super Bowl this week, it makes sense the Nope teaser keeps much of the film's details under warps. However, fans of Peele's are sure to be properly compelled by the brief snippet of footage shown in the new teaser and the terror it alludes to from the film. With just over five months to go until Nope's release, the film is still largely shrouded in secrecy, namely with what the threat may be, though between Kaluuya, Palmer and Yeun's characters looking scared towards the sky and the film's sole poster centered on a lone cloud in the sky, it would be interesting to see if it's alluding to an extraterrestrial danger.

With the first footage confirming the official Nope trailer will premiere during the Super Bowl, the roster of trailers airing during the NFL championship continues to grow in exciting fashion. Other titles expected or reported to unveil new footage in the game include Amazon's Lord of the Rings series, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and a potential Black Adam trailer, which would mark the first Warner Bros. trailer to drop during the Super Bowl in over a decade. The wait for the first Nope trailer is nearly over as it is set to arrive on Sunday.
