After years of waiting for a proper replacement for Apple's infamous AirPower, Nomad has developed the Base Station Pro, a wireless charging station that can charge up to three devices placed anywhere on the charger. Standard wireless chargers require users to place their device on a specific area in order for it to charge. However, with the FreePower technology developed by Aria, Nomad's Base Station Pro is active from corner to corner, so devices charge no matter where they are placed.

In September of 2017, Apple announced AirPower, a charging pad that could charge up to three devices, regardless of where they were placed. Many individuals were excited to hear about this new development and waited for more information to be released. However, a little over a year later and Apple would officially cancel its plans to develop the device. Since then, there have been a few wireless chargers that could charge multiple devices, but all of which still limited where you could exactly place your device to receive a charge. That is, until now and the Base Station Pro

Nomad created a wireless charger that seems to be the perfect replacement for an AirPower mat. The Base Station Pro is a slim, but wide, charging pad that can charge up to three devices using an eighteen-coil design, allowing the user to charger their phones, wire-free earbuds, and other devices that use wireless charging. Using technology developed by Aria, the FreePower algorithm will locate a device on the charger and create virtual coils under the device. This is possible because the coils work together to create an electromagnetic coupling to the device.

The software for the charger will also be updated throughout its lifespan with the Mac and Windows app. The Base Station Pro currently has a 7.5-watt charging speed and the charging pad itself is powered by a USB-C cable. Currently, the Base Station Pro is compatible with Apple and Samsung devices with support for Google devices coming soon. Unfortunately, the Base Station Pro is not compatible with the Apple Watch, although Nomad has stated it is working to develop a solution, with an announcement expected in 2021.

The Base Station Pro is a device that is very similar to everything that Apple originally promised. With the capability to charge multiple devices and the option to place devices wherever you want on the charger. Nomad is also working to constantly improve the device with system updates to improve compatibility with other devices. For those who were disappointed with the cancellation of Apple's AirPower, the Base Station Pro is the perfect alternative, and available to pre-order now.
