Tobey Maguire reflects on his experience putting on the Spidey suit once more after so many years for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Released in December 2021 to strong reviews from audiences and critics alike, Spider-Man: No Way Home puts Tom Holland's web-crawler against the biggest threat he's faced yet – a handful of Spider-Man villains from alternate universes. After the death of Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and the realization that he can't defeat Green Goblin and the other villains by himself, Holland's Peter gets a little help from Andrew Garfield and Maguire's Peters, who travel to his universe through portals. Garfield and Maguire's returns were more than just cameos as well, with both characters playing crucial roles during the film's climax.

In an interview as part of Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special, as shared by Marvel, Maguire discusses what it was like to become the web-crawler again in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor shares that the suit was "a challenge" at times, but that it helped him become reacquainted with the character after so many years away. Ultimately, it didn't take long for Maguire to feel "at home" in the costume once more. Check out Maguire's full comment below:

"The suit can definitely be a challenge at time when you’ve got to get into the full thing. But then, once you’re comfortable, there is something fun about it. As an actor, it helps when you get in your costume. You begin to feel it more and embody it more… You start to feel pretty at home pretty swiftly."

Tobey Maguire Could Still Return In The Multiverse Saga After No Way Home

Tobey Maguire steps through a portal in Spider-Man No Way Home

Maguire's Peter is returned to his own universe at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home when Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) casts an intricate spell to make things right in Holland's Peter's universe, but that doesn't mean Maguire can't still return down the road. It doesn't sound like anything is officially in the cards just yet in terms of either Maguire or Garfield reprising their roles again, but the introduction of the multiverse into the MCU means that anything is possible going forward. While it's not yet clear if Holland will be returning for any more solo Spider-Man movies, thus providing a possible place for Maguire and Garfield to reappear, two Phase 6 team-up movies actually seem like more likely places audiences could be seeing the two legacy heroes once more.

Little is known about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars just yet, but the two films (the latter, in particular) are expected to serve as a climax of sorts to the Multiverse Saga. Kang, who is set to be introduced in next month's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is expected to serve as the MCU's next Thanos-level villain, suggesting the new team of Avengers that face him will be needing all the help they can get. Kang is a master of time and screenwriter Jeff Loveness has already teased that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be exploring the villain on a deep level, including potentially his many variants across the multiverse. With such a formidable, dimension-spanning villain, it's certainly possible that Maguire and Garfield's Spider-Mans will return to help defeat him.

Avengers: Secret Wars remains the highly-mysterious capper to Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga but, if the movie follows the comics, it's possible that it could feature all of Marvel's most powerful heroes and villains fighting it out on Battleworld. If Maguire doesn't appear in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Avengers: Secret Wars seems like it could feature a premise that makes his return a no-brainer. Plus, Maguire himself has expressed enthusiasm about continuing to play Spider-Man. It remains to be seen whether Maguire's time playing the web-crawler is at an end, but Spider-Man: No Way Home demonstrated that the actor won't skip a beat if he is ever called upon to don the iconic costume once more.
