Spider-Man: No Way Home features one Spider-Man: Far From Home reference which secretly continues an MCU Spider-Man story. Spider-Man: No Way Home created a whole new range of possibilities for the MCU, as it finally showed the scale of the Multiverse and the link between worlds. After Peter Parker’s identity as Spider-Man was revealed in Far From Home, billboards, and TVs were plastered with his face, calling him “Public Enemy #1”, and his ability to live peacefully was disrupted.
However, part of Peter’s identity may have still been protected, as a bulletin in Spider-Man: No Way Home showed an arrest warrant was still out for Spider-Man Far From Home's Night Monkey. At the start of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the news is announcing Peter’s identity, but a banner across the bottom reads “Interpol issues arrest warrant for the Czech Republic’s Night Monkey.” Night Monkey is Peter Parker, in his black stealth suit, which best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) so swiftly named. It was never revealed what happened to Night Monkey in Far From Home and this reference in No Way Home continues this by showing he is still considered a separate hero and does not have any links to Peter Parker or Spider-Man.
Spider-Man Was A Wanted Criminal Before No Way Home
Before No Way Home, Spider-Man was a wanted criminal, with accusations of him destroying the city and killing Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) with Stark Industry drones. Plus, with Spider-Man conveniently appearing at all his school trips, Peter was desperately trying to hide his secret Spider-Man identity from his classmates, hence the Night Monkey cover. The events in Far From Home and the beginning of No Way Home showed why Peter needed anonymity. Spider-Man was already being slated in the press by J Jonah Jameson (J. K. Simmons) so having Spider-Man being at the root of more battles all across Europe would only add to the bounty on his head. The Night Monkey cover allowed Peter to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in Europe without Spider-Man being hunted down across the world.
Will Peter's Stealth Suit Return In The MCU?
There is a high chance Peter’s stealth suit will return to the MCU, especially as he knows the consequences of people knowing his identity, so Peter is back to needing as much anonymity as possible. Plus, the stealth suit was built by Nick Fury’s allies and has more protection than No Way Home's ending suit that Peter made, which could mean it is more beneficial for him to use. Peter has also been seen in different versions of the Spider-Man suit which are modified for stealth, such as in No Way Home, but they are very obviously still a Spider-Man suit, so it could be that they return but the Night Monkey does not.
However, since Night Monkey is viewed as a separate hero, he might still be on Interpol’s watch list and the use of the stealth suit may still be tied to Night Monkey. Since Night Monkey was referenced in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then it is likely the stealth suit could return to continue this story even more, and Peter may be reliant on it now he does not have any of Stark's suits or technology. The return of the Night Monkey persona would be a fun story to explore, but whether that will fit into Spider-Man 4's narrative remains to be seen.
