Daniel Craig's James Bond works alongside a new 007 agent (Lashana Lynch) in the Super Bowl 2020 trailer for No Time to Die. Although Lynch is playing a 00 in the upcoming film (the 25th James Bond movie), that doesn't mean she will become the new Bond when Craig leaves the franchise. Still, with the Craig era of James Bond adventures coming to an end, it's not unreasonable to think director Cary Fukunaga and his writers have some big twists in store. In fact, some are speculating No Time to Die will go where no Bond film has gone before and actually kill Mr. Bond himself.

Whatever happens, No Time to Die aims to provide a sense of closure to Craig's run with the franchise by bringing back characters from all four of his previous Bond films for this final chapter. In fact, the official trailer alone featured cameos by Jeffrey Wright's Felix Leiter and Christoph Waltz's Ernst Stavro Blofeld, along with several key players from both Skyfall and Spectre and a whole slew of newcomers. That's once again the case with the movie's newly-unveiled Super Bowl LIV TV spot.

The No Time to Die Super Bowl trailer is now online, following its premiere during the game. You can check it out below.

Much like Bond, Lynch's Nomi has a knack for witty banter, as seen in this new footage. She appears to be a match for the iconic spy in other areas too, based on the previous marketing material. No Time to Die co-writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge made it her goal to ensure the film does right by its women (even if Bond himself does not) and she seems to have succeeded so far. In addition to Nomi, the No Time to Die Super Bowl TV spot highlights Craig's Knives Out costar Ana de Armas as Paloma, a CIA agent who's said to play an important role in aiding Bond on his mission. Meanwhile, Léa Seydoux's Dr. Madeleine Swann is also back and sitting on some very important information related to the movie's mystery villain Safin (Rami Malek).

In a time when more and more people are wondering how Bond can stay relevant in the era of increasingly-inclusive franchises like the MCU, DCEU, Star Wars, and Fast & Furious, No Time to Die may offer the answer. Whether Lynch and de Armas come back in future movies or not, their inclusion (along with Naomie Harris' return as Eve Moneypenny) sets a precedent for the role not only women, but women of color can and should play in the upcoming era of Bond films. James Bond may never be a woman according to the franchise's producers, but there's no reason more of the characters around him can't be. And who knows: after No Time to Die, the property's overseers may decide it's time for a 007 like Nomi to take charge instead.
