One No Time To Die star assures James Bond fans that it's worth the wait. This 25th entry in the Bond franchise is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and features Daniel Craig in his final performance as the MI6 agent. No Time To Die is currently scheduled to release wide in the US on October 8.
The previous Bond film, Sam Mendes' Spectre, released back in 2015, and the wait for the sequel has felt extra long for fans of the franchise. After overcoming the departure of original director Danny Boyle over creative differences, which ended up pushing the release date from November 2019 to April 2020, No Time To Die became one of the first blockbusters to suffer pandemic-related delays. It would be rescheduled twice more before reaching its current date, resulting in audiences having to wait a year-and-a-half longer than they expected.
However, No Time To Die star Naomie Harris assures viewers through the James Bond Twitter account that the film is worth all that anticipation. Harris has played the role of Eve Moneypenny in the Craig era, debuting in 2012's Skyfall, and spoke at the film's premiere on September 28. She kept her message short, but says exactly the words that fans are hoping to hear:
Oh, it is so worth the wait. Honestly, it's such a brilliant, brilliant film. I'm really excited for you to see it.
Early reviews of No Time To Die seem to largely agree with Harris, with most of the praise going to Craig's swansong performance and the new narrative direction the film takes with the franchise. Social media reactions were also positive, particularly regarding the action scenes, though some warn that the movie will be divisive when it reaches a wide audience. The director and cast have been open about their intention to subvert many of the traditional Bond tropes, and it's possible they may take that further than many fans would prefer.
Even with reservations that suggest it doesn't top Casino Royale or Skyfall, Craig's Bond is clearly going out with a bang, and lovers of the franchise now know they didn't wait all this time to be underwhelmed. Once the dust settles, though, everyone's attention will turn to the future, as who takes over as the gentleman spy could determine whether the series can continue in its current, mega-blockbuster form. However, Bond producers are waiting until 2022 to start searching for Craig's replacement, to give everyone a chance to savor No Time To Die and appreciate the end of one of the greatest eras of Bond films.
