The upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die utilized Coca-Cola for one of its stunts with star Daniel Craig. The movie is the 25th in the Bond series and Craig's 5th time in the leading role. No Time to Die will be Craig's last time playing Bond, as the actor is looking to move on to other things. This has led to speculation his character may die in the film, allowing MGM to reboot the franchise. However, that won't be known for sure until No Time to Die finally releases in April 2021.

At this point, Bond fans have waited a long time for the movie. It was one of the first affected by the coronavirus, delayed to November 2020 shortly before its release in the spring. At the time, many thought the long delay would give No Time to Die plenty of space from the pandemic. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, as the coronavirus continues to impact the entertainment industry. Earlier this month, No Time to Die was bumped again, placing the movie roughly a year past when it was at one time supposed to release.

Despite No Time to Die's recent delay, its stars and creative team have continued to promote the film. Recently, Total Film (via CinemaBlend) spoke with the movie's stunt boss, Lee Morrison, who discussed a particularly inventive motorcycle sequence involving an idea from Craig. In the stunt, Craig's double lands a motorcycle on cobblestones. However, as cobblestones can be slippery, Morrison revealed No Time to Die utilized 8,400 gallons of Coca-Cola to make it work. He said:

I spent nearly €60,000 spraying Coca-Cola around Matera. I’ve been spraying Coca-Cola on slippery surfaces for a very long time.

Though this may seem like a surprising way to pull off a stunt, it does make sense from a safety perspective. Stunt teams often try to use existing materials vs. crafting their own, and from what Morrison says, Coca-Cola has done the trick before. On the surface, this information about the motorcycle sequence is a fun anecdote about No Time to Die. However, it also highlights the creativity of stunt teams and their importance in making movies a success.

This is especially the case for Bond films, as stunts are an essential component of the franchise. In that regard, moviegoers have particularly high expectations for No Time to Die, as they want Craig's Bond to go out with a bang. Though audiences are waiting longer for his last outing than hoped, at least now they can look forward to another exciting action piece.
