Goichi “Suda51” Suda, the eccentric and creative mind behind the No More Heroes franchise, might announce his latest project by the end of this year. Under his old development studio of Grasshopper Manufacture, Suda 51 is largely known for producing bizarre third-person action titles like No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Killer Is Dead. No More Heroes remains his most recognized and successful work, as 2021 saw Travis Touchdown continue his ultraviolent journey while battling alien invaders in No More Heroes 3.

However, Suda51 has been relatively quiet since No More Heroes 3 was released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch last year, with the biggest news being Grasshopper Manufacture’s acquisition by Chinese publisher NetEase Games last October. He has dropped a few hints regarding his next over-the-top action extravaganza during this time, including his dream project of working with Marvel to make a Deadpool game, but nothing has been officially announced. Still, fans have been left excited for more of the outlandish action and creative concepts Suda51's games provide, and they might not have to wait much longer to find out what he has in store for the future.

Goichi “Suda51” Suda recently sat down for a short video interview published by NetEast Games' YouTube channel (via My Nintendo News). During this interview, he described how NetEase has allowed him and his team to open up a new studio named Yabukiri Studio, and that he plans to continue making “truly cool” and “all new” games similar to No More Heroes under this new banner. In fact, Suda51 suggested that Yabukiri Studio could reveal its first new game “maybe around the end of the year,” but was quick to add that this could end up happening next year instead. He simply says that “we’ll see how it goes,” but not before reassuring fans that “everyone is going to be really impressed” by what he and his new team are cooking up.

Suda51’s comments come as No More Heroes 3 is about to branch out beyond the confines of its former status as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Earlier this year, XSEED announced that it will be porting No More Heroes 3 to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox systems this fall, leaving fans hopeful that these new versions will correct the muddy visuals, low framerates, and the lifeless open world that bogged down the otherwise well-received Switch original. This is not the first time the previously Nintendo-only No More Heroes series has come to other platforms, as the first two mainline No More Heroes games were ported to PC through Steam right around the time that No More Heroes 3 was set to make its official debut.

Given that No More Heroes 3 was the final chapter in Travis Touchdown’s story, the new game Suda51 hinted at in his latest interview is most likely going to be a brand-new IP altogether - provided he isn’t working with Marvel on that dream Deadpool game instead. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what kind of off-the-rails antics Suda51’s next big gaming project will bring, especially if it is announced by the end of 2022.
