Goichi Suda, better known as Suda51, has made quite a name for himself in the video game industry. Suda is best known for his incredibly strange off-the-wall humor and colorful characters.

There are few of Suda's games as popular as No More Heroes, the cult-classic Nintendo Wii title that introduced everyone to Travis Touchdown. No More Heroes has since migrated to PlayStation consoles, but it still has a strong fanbase on Nintendo consoles.

No More Heroes 3 finally brings Travis Touchdown back properly for a new adventure, and Nintendo has been giving it plenty of attention during Directs and other events. There's plenty of info to dig into, so here's everything we know about No More Heroes 3.

No More Heroes 3 Release Date

No More Heroes 3 was announced at E3 2019 during Nintendo's Showcase, and it was confirmed to be developed by the same team that worked on Travis Strikes Again. While there's currently no release date, Suda51 said in November 2019 that the game was roughly 35-40 percent complete.

The game is on track for a release sometime in 2020, and it seems more than likely that it'll be the second half of the year. Nintendo doesn't really have anything slated for release after Animal Crossing, so No More Heroes 3 will likely be one of the big marquee titles they advertise for the Fall season.

No More Heroes 3 Story

No More Heroes 3 Story

The story of No More Heroes 3 technically starts eight years before the original game, at least the backstory. A young boy named Damon discovers an alien named FU, and the two develop a close bond. Damon gains alien powers through the wreckage of FU's ship, and while the government is hot on their tails to capture the alien, the pair are able to send FU back his home planet.

FU promises to return in 20 years, and when he does he's not the same lovable alien Damon remembers. Damon, now the CEO of a powerful company, discovers that FU has become a galactic criminal hellbent on destroying the Earth with the help of eight other lifeforms. When this all happens Travis is simply trying to enjoy his retirement, but the alien invasion draws him back into things. In previous interviews, Suda51 has referred to the game's antagonist as a "Thanos level" villain. It certainly seems like this is supposed to be Travis' biggest challenge yet.

No More Heroes 3 Gameplay

No More Heroes 3 Gameplay

No More Heroes 3 will return to the third-person action style of the first two games, instead of the top-down hack-and-slash gameplay of Travis Strikes Again. While Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture haven't detailed a ton of gameplay, the game's trailers do shed a bit of light on what can be expected.

Travis will, once again, wield his iconic laser sword, and it seems to have a charging system just like in past games, requiring players to recharge the saber during battle. The same quick-time style system looks to be returning, letting Travis unleash brutal finishing moves on enemies and get an advantage in combat.

No More Heroes 3 will feature an open world for players to roam around, but it won't' be quite as expansive as some of the massive open-world games of the last generation. The game will have both the main story and side missions to undertake, and players can expect plenty of climactic boss battles along the way.

The most interesting thing, however, is the mech suit that Travis is seen wearing in one of the game's trailers. In an interview with GameReactor, Suda talked about how the mech suit will be an integral part of Travis' arsenal, and that he's held onto the Death Drive Mk II game system from Travis Strikes Again.

No More Heroes 3 is set to launch sometime in 2020 on Nintendo Switch.
