The first two No More Heroes games are finally arriving on Steam this week, as confirmed by publisher XSEED Games. The belief that the chronicles of anime fanboy-turned-assassin Travis Touchdown would be ported to PC started as far back as last December, not too long after the first two games in the franchise were re-released on the Nintendo Switch.

Developed for the Wii by Goichi “Suda51” Suda’s Grasshopper Manufacture and released back in 2007, the original No More Heroes told the story of Travis Touchdown as he fought to become the world’s most notorious assassin and quickly earned cult status from players due to its quirky tone and over-the-top action. Likewise, the 2010 follow-up, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, was hailed as an improvement on the first game, fine-tuning its motion-controlled swordplay and adding new playable characters and weapon types alongside a side quest-based “jobs” system. The first No More Heroes received an expanded port on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, titled No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise, in 2011, but PC owners interested in checking out this rather unique series have been left on the outside looking in.

At least, that was until now. Original No More Heroes co-publisher and localizer XSEED Games announced that both it and Desperate Struggle are coming to Steam on June 9. According to the group's Twitter, both games will be available at a 10% discount at launch and are now available to be added to a player’s Wishlist.

These Switch ports come right as Travis is getting ready to pick up his trusty Beam Katana once more in No More Heroes 3, which was announced for the Switch way back in 2019 but was delayed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The game will pit Travis against an alien invasion and looks to offer plenty of satire on recent superhero stories like Avengers: Endgame – along with all of the laser swordplay and wrestling moves that made No More Heroes such a cult hit in the first place.

With the first two No More Heroes games arriving on Steam later this week, now seems like as good a time as any to catch up on the exploits of Travis Touchdown and his quest to become the world’s most feared assassin. While these upcoming PC ports won’t include the motion controls of the franchise’s original Wii releases, there will still be plenty of over-the-top violence and off-the-wall hijinks for players to fall in love with, either for the first time or all over again.
