Nintendo has an illustrious history when it comes to its consoles. Yet, the one console that is often overlooked is the Wii U. This is largely due to the fact that it basically came out of nowhere, while also not getting as advertised as other models. However, this innovative console is just as spectacular as others, as it has the Wii U Gamepad, while also working on TVs, too. This created advantages for players in certain games, as well. It was also Nintendo's first console to have HD graphics, so it is a huge part of their resume.
It also has a number of great games that every gamer needs to play. Many of these also would end up being the inspiration for some of the best and most entertaining games that are on the Nintendo Switch, too, so they hold a lot of value for not only their gameplay, but also for their significance, in general.

Focusing on this game, it a great start for the series. It offers a very entertaining story mode, as well as great online play. It is a fun option and a new take on third-person shooter games while being more kid-friendly to boot.
Super Mario Maker
Super Mario Maker was an innovative game, as it allowed players to create their own side-scrolling Mario levels. This is something that all fans of the series dreamed of before this game, and it was an excellent start to the idea.

A very fun platforming game on the Nintendo Wii U is Rayman Legends. It not only offers excellent gameplay through its vast challenges, but it also has a humorous element, too.
The characters in the game, such as Rayman and Globox, are goofy with their mannerisms, yet are fun to control. Furthermore, each level in the game offers an abundance of unique challenges, while also being breathtaking in appearance, too.
The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD does the original iconic game justice with its immense upgrades. It also fixes a lot of the glitches from the original version, such as the choppiness at the conclusion of the game.
It is remarkable how much the graphics improve in this version, too. Yet, what is most important is that the game keeps its original flare and excellent gameplay. It is absolutely worth playing, as it offers a better version of the already stupendous game.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a wonderful game from this iconic series and it offers a lot of challenges to even the most skilled of gamers, as it is quite the difficult platformer.
Besides the player having access to Donkey Kong, they also get the assistance of Diddy and Cranky, too. This comes in handy, as they each have their own set of skills, which only enhances the quality of the game.
Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart 8 is a beloved game and its sequel is on the Nintendo Switch, too. It perfectly depicts just how much this series has grown since the Nintendo 64 version, as it offers a lot of characters and tracks.
Interestingly, it also is the first game from the series to offer the anti-gravity mechanic. This allows characters to drive upside down, which is a fun twist. Every Mario Kart game is entertaining, but this one takes it to entirely new heights.
Pokkén Tournament
Pokkén Tournament takes the Pokémon series down an entirely different route. It is purely a fighting game that is full of nonstop action and instead of each Pokémon taking turns with their attacks, it offers continuous fighting.
It strikes similarities to the Mortal Kombat series in this aspect, as each character also has a health meter, too. It also helps that the player is able to use some prominent characters from the series, such as Mewtwo and Charizard.
Super Mario 3D World
Super Mario 3D World is perhaps the most popular game on this console and Nintendo even released a sequel of it earlier this year, to go along with the new game, Bowser's Fury.
This game allows the player to take over not just Mario, but also Peach, Rosalina, Luigi and Toad. In terms of its levels, they are not only beautifully rendered, but full of an array of hard tasks. Finding every green star is hard enough, but nothing is as difficult as its final level, Champion's Road.
Pikmin 3
Pikmin 3 is a game that sometimes is underrated by gamers, which is a shame. This game offers riveting gameplay, while also possessing far better graphics than its previous installments. Furthermore, the Wii U also allows the gamer to complete multiple tasks at once with its second screen.
It also is memorable for its battles, as Alph and company have to take on some rather difficult beings. This is especially the case when it comes to the final boss, Plasm Wraith, who causes all the trouble in the game.
