As this entry acts as the official sequel to the legendary Wii Sports, it remasters tons of athletic games to play with friends and family. Fan favorites like Tennis and Bowling make a return while also introducing new sports like badminton and soccer. It's a game designed to get players moving and sweating. From the very beginning, players can create their own custom Miis to represent themselves in the game. While the body types aren't exactly how they were in the original, their new designs allow for more custom animations.
In soccer, there are two possible options when breaking down teams. The first is grouping together two teams of four players, with eight total on the field. The second is a one-on-one challenge where both players take up the entire field. It's also one of the sports in Nintendo Switch Sports that use the Leg Strap accessory. With this item, players are able to strap their Joycon to their legs for more realistic and accurate kicking motions. After scoring a goal in soccer, players can rub it in their opponent's face by taunting, but the game doesn't explain how to do it directly.
To celebrate in soccer in Nintendo Switch Sports, the player can continue to run around the field after landing a goal. Their Mii will swing their arms out in celebration, but players can take this a step further. By shaking their joy-cons, their Mii will slide around the field in glory. Since soccer is a game that takes a while to score a single point, every goal should be celebrated with a bit of taunting. There's no additional bonus in the game for doing this, it's strictly just a way to rub it in.
Customizing Mii's in Nintendo Switch Sports
When creating a custom Mii in Nintendo Switch Sports, players are given tons of different options from the beginning. Outside of their face and hairstyles, it's also possible to change their outfits and accessories. The more the player plays Nintendo Switch Sports, the more outfits that will become available. There's even an option to choose between the modern look of Nintendo Switch Sports and the classic Wii Sports design. Ultimately, these are all just aesthetics to make the player feel much more involved.
To unlock more outfits, the player will need to play a match globally. If the player doesn't have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, they will be paired with bots instead. After clearing matches, the player will earn points that can then be invested in the cosmetic shop. New cosmetics cycle in and out ever so often so check back periodically for new content.
