The upcoming Super Mario Nintendo Switch remasters that were leaked yesterday have been corroborated by a few more sources, with reports indicating that the upcoming anniversary project will include Super Mario 64Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. The Super Mario brand is celebrating its 35th anniversary later this year on September 13, 2020, and Nintendo has been gearing up to make a splash with a franchise that has been relatively quiet with regards to its mainline stream of games since Super Mario Odyssey's strong showing in late 2017.

Fans have been clamoring for Super Mario Nintendo Switch remasters for quite some time, a problem that is not unique to just that franchise. The Nintendo Switch is the most popular console in the world lately, buoyed by the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and a huge surge in sales as a result. The Nintendo Switch's best week for console sales occurred earlier this March, over three years since the console released, indicating that the ceiling could remain high for quite some time.

While Eurogamer already confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy would be part of the Super Mario Nintendo Switch remasters that are coming this year, follow-up reports from other sources and another from the same outlet have since confirmed the collection's other two titles. Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine will also be getting Nintendo Switch remasters as part of the 35th anniversary celebrations Nintendo has planned, and older Super Mario games not already present in the Switch Online library will likely be added there if the rumors regarding Nintendo's intent to dive deep into its back catalogue hold true.

Of course, most of these plans were, according to Eurogamer, scheduled for Nintendo's E3 2020 presence. However, since E3 2020 has long since been canceled, it remains to be seen just how Nintendo plans to officially announce the plans for what now appears to be a confirmed release plan for later this year. With many expecting the Super Mario Nintendo Switch remasters to arrive in time for September's anniversary proper, it's likely fans will see an announcement soon.

Nintendo is clearly looking to bring Mario back in a big way in 2020 to help celebrate the plumber's longevity in the industry. Between the Super Mario Nintendo Switch remasters and the new Paper Mario title that's reportedly a return to that series' RPG roots, fans of the Italian adventurer will have a lot to look forward to in coming months - and the Nintendo Switch could remain the most in-demand (and hard to find) console currently being produced.
