Supposed leaks from an industry insider have apparently revealed Nintendo's 2022 video game release lineup. Nintendo has created some of the most iconic and successful series in gaming, such as MarioThe Legend of Zelda and Pokémon, and entries in some of its biggest franchises may be coming next year.

A juggernaut of the video game industry, Nintendo recently revealed the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model), an upgraded version of the portable console's base model. The new OLED Model will feature a seven-inch OLED screen, allow for brighter colors and better image quality than the base Switch. The modern iteration of the Switch will also include other improvements such as a wider and more durable stand compared to the original model's flimsier stand. A wired LAN port will allow for improved online connection (in addition to a second USB port), and the OLED model will also sport 64GB of internal storage. While the new OLED Switch is set to release in October, Nintendo has stated that it's not planning on a Switch Pro or other models at present.

Notable industry insider markomaro outlined Nintendo's alleged 2022 release schedule on Twitter. The lineup of titles was further corroborated by Cameron Hawkins, a journalist and gaming personality. The schedule of titles is quite extensive, but it includes a new 2D Donkey Kong title, Pikmin 4, a 3D Kirby adventure (with RPG elements), Metroid Prime Collection, additional HD remakes of older titles in the Legend of Zelda series, and a two-part combo of a Nintendo Switch port of Detective Pikachu and a Switch-exclusive sequel.

The Nintendo Switch has been a huge success for Nintendo, and the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) is intended to be an appealing successor for the portable console. However, some competition appears to have arrived in the form of Valve's newly-announced Steam Deck. This portable PC will give gamers access to their entire library of Steam titles, and an advanced control setup will make even the most complex PC title accessible on the go. The Steam Deck's design and function has led to many comparisons with the Switch, and a comparison between the power and specs of the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch reveals that Valve's console should be considerably more powerful than Nintendo's 2017 release.

Nintendo offers a huge line-up of exclusive titles, which is a major factor that gives the gaming icon a leg up over rivals such as Microsoft and Sony. Beloved series like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon can only be played on a Nintendo console, and for many gamers that is reason enough to invest. With the company's entire 2022 line-up supposedly revealed, this news could certainly influence how excited Nintendo fans are for the next year of gaming.
