August 2022 is going to see plenty of new releases for the Nintendo Switch, but many players will want to seek out the best of the best. There is a fairly long list of titles set to release, and most people should be able to find at least one game that catches their interest. At the same time, some potentially great games may slide under the radar.

August 2022 does not have any releases set for the biggest Nintendo properties such as Mario or Pokémon. However, that by no means implies that August's release schedule is weak. Indeed, some of the games included have either been highly anticipated or have enough of a hook to draw in some casual fans. It is a perfect time for players to get to know some new titles, and they may even find a new favorite game in the process.

While a possible Super Mario Odyssey 2 announcement is on the minds of many, the Switch's offerings for August should not be overlooked. A good amount of games set for release look very promising, be they for fans of an existing franchise or something entirely new. Whatever the case, there are a couple of titles that should have eyes on them over the course of the month.

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Releases August 30 On Switch

Every TMNT game that will be included in Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have left a bigger footprint in video game history than many know, and TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection pays tribute to it. This is a collection of 13 TMNT games that were originally released between 1989 and 1993.  These ports of the games will be enhanced with the options to use save states, remapped controls, and even online play in a few titles.

The Cowabunga Collection was revealed earlier this year, and it will feature some of the most beloved classic TMNT games, such as the original arcade game and the Super Nintendo hit Turtles in Time. The game will also include the infamously difficult Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for SNES, where the new save state feature will likely be greatly appreciated. These are only three of the games on display, with the rest being a bundle of Arcade, NES, SNES, Genesis, and even a couple of Game Boy titles. This includes classics such as The Manhattan Project as well as more obscure titles like Radical Rescue. The collection will also feature a gallery that includes art from all of the collected titles, some of which have never been released before.

The Cowabunga Collection would make an excellent gift for any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, complementing the nostalgia trip of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. Gathering so many games into one collection, including some absolute gems, is quite a deal, and it could even give new life to the lesser-known games in the collection. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will be released on August 30.

Two Point Campus Is A College-Themed Management Game

Two Point Campus promotional title art.

Two Point Campus is the sequel to Two Point Hospital, a game about managing a hospital and keeping it running smoothly. With a cartoonish presentation, Two Point Hospital's charm made it popular among those who played it. Two Point Campus looks to recapture that success in a new setting, tasking the player with running universities instead of hospitals.

The new college setting means that players will have a different set of challenges in Two Point Campus compared to its predecessor. Managing student happiness and campus quality is key to ensuring that the player's university can become a success, and Two Point Campus' combination of silliness and strategy make this a surprisingly challenging task. The game offers several different types of universities, ranging from a culinary school for aspiring chefs to a magic academy where students can become the finest witches and wizards. The game will feature several missions for players to tackle, letting players oversee different universities with unique challenges.

The variety in Two Point Campus' scenarios as well as the tried-and-true gameplay should give the game what it needs to be a success. Early looks at the game show it to be brimming with personality that should have more chances to come through in a college environment as opposed to the original game's hospitals. Two Point Campus will be released on August 9th.

Pac Man World Re-Pac Is A Revival Of A Playstation Classic

Pac-Man World is a classic platformer set for a comeback.

At the end of June, Nintendo surprised fans by announcing Pac-Man World Re-Pac, a remastering of the successful Playstation game Pac-Man World, making it the latest PS1 game released on the Switch. As Pac-Man's first proper foray into the platforming genre, it turned out to be a fantastic move for the gaming icon. Pac-Man World was a success that led to two sequels, and now the original is set to come to the Switch and all other current-gen consoles.

Pac-Man World takes place over the course of six worlds, each guarded at the end by a boss. In addition to running and jumping, Pac-Man can use his butt-bounce and rev roll techniques to vanquish foes in his path as he sets out to save his family and friends from the villainous Toc-Man. Of course, a Pac-Man game wouldn't be complete without mazes, and the game has several bonus segments in the style of the original arcade games. Even eating a power pellet will cause Pac-Man to grow into a giant version of himself to devour ghosts. Because of the new platforming gameplay, even non-fans of Pac-Man can appreciate World.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac is taking a great game from days past and polishing it up for modern audiences. Both fans of the original, as well as newcomers, will likely be able to get something out of this title. Out of everything coming to Switch this August, Re-Pac may be the one most worth anticipating. Pac Man World Re-Pac will be released on August 26th.

The Nintendo Switch has several titles coming out over the next month that are worth watching out for. While these three may be the biggest titles being released, the whole month will feature an array of interesting new titles. August 2022 is shaping up to be a good month for the Nintendo Switch, and its players will reap the benefits.
