Nintendo has been very secretive about its upcoming Nintendo NX platform. As a result, it seems new rumors pop up about the NX almost every week. The latest batch of rumors provide some interesting information about the console, including details on its operating system and yet another take on its supposed power level. It's important to remember that, like all NX rumors, these should be taken with a grain of salt, even though the source of the rumors has reportedly provided accurate details about a number of gaming releases in the past.
According to Dual Pixels' source, the Nintendo NX will feature a wireless HDMI dongle based on an updated version of the streaming technology used in the Wii U Gamepad. The analog controls will supposedly have motors in them for full haptic feedback, allowing it to move the control to simulate impacts with objects, jerking from firing a gun and similar reactions. Bluetooth connectivity will be high, with the source saying it can "literally Bluetooth synch with everything" and will feature the ability to notify you of missed calls and texts while synced with smartphones. Social features will also play an important part, with the source saying that players should look at Pokémon GO as an example of the level of social interaction Nintendo is shooting for with the new console.
As far as power goes, the source says that the Xbox One is the closest current analog to the NX platform's power; this is in contrast to previous rumors that it would be more powerful than the PlayStation 4, though the console's rumored power level seems to change with every other rumor. Developers who have had experience with the NX seem to like it, though; its custom NindendOS operating system is supposedly both powerful and easy to work with, to the point that Nintendo is apparently being careful about how its shown off as some might mistake it for running Android. The OS has strong networking functions, which is important as it will apparently be tied to multiple devices, and the console itself has been described as being like if "Samsung and the Nintendo 2DS has a baby."
A number of these rumored bits aren't too far off from previous rumors, so it's possible that some of those rumors may have been accurate and these are simply clarified versions. That said, given the wide range of rumors being passed around about the NX, it's important not to get your expectations up too high about specific rumors until the system is actually unveiled by Nintendo. Some of the rumors have already gotten away from those who've spread them, hence why you see people talking about the NX being "delayed" even though it hasn't even received a release date yet. It's possible these rumors will go the same way; with the actual released version of the NX bearing little resemblance to these or many of the other rumors.
One piece of information from the rumor mill that is believable, though, is one of employees uttering a phrase that essentially translates to "For Iwata!” at the end of meetings and brainstorming sessions. Passion within Nintendo is supposedly at an all-time high, and the desire is to create a product worthy of the late president of Nintendo's memory, since the NX is considered within the company to be his last project. According to the source, a Nintendo employee said that they "have not seen this much forward momentum on a project since they launched the original Famicom."
There is no current release date for the Nintendo NX. Information about the platform is slated to be released sometime in 2016.
