When looking into the Nintendo world, there is no protagonist who is more loved than the legendary Mario. This is entirely understandable, as the series just had its 35th anniversary and is still Nintendo's flagship series. Of course, this is far from the only iconic game, and they are only improving in quality as time goes on. For example, the recent release of Bowser's Fury still uses fresh and new components that are simply spectacular. This, in turn, makes the player grow to appreciate using Mario's character more.

Although everyone certainly loves playing with Mario, one strange element is that he does not use his sidekicks all that often. For the most part, the only ally who seems to appear in all his adventures is Toad. Toad is awesome, sure, but there are so many characters who Mario seems to work with for only a game or so. However, when it comes to his enemies, they always seem to be in every game. Although Mario does handle himself well on his own, it would not hurt to utilize some of his sidekicks a bit more also.

Toadette

Toadette is commonly playable in series like Mario Party and Mario sports games, but she is never in his actual adventures. It is actually an intriguing note, as her brother, Toad, is in virtually everything.

Aside from being a decent hitter in Mario Super Sluggers, she does not offer much on her resume. However, this could all change if Nintendo utilizes her more in a future adventure in a similar role to Toad's. She definitely could work with Peach well, too.

Nokis

The Nokis are very cute creatures, and that allows them to be quite memorable to Super Mario Sunshine fans. They are inhabitants of Isle Delfino, so Mario does spend a lot of time with them in the game.

It is strange though, as after this release, Nintendo barely utilizes them. They are primarily used as audience members in Mario sports games, but are playable in Mario Super Sluggers. They never accompany Mario on his big adventures, either.

Professor E. Gadd

Professor E. Gadd and Luigi in Luigi's Mansion 3

Professor E. Gadd is definitely a character that Nintendo does not incorporate in their games enough. He is only really in the Luigi's Mansion series, but he also is responsible for the invention of F.L.U.D.D.

Therefore, he does make a big impact on the brothers, but is never playable, which is quite irritating. It would be amazing to control this mad, yet kind, scientist. These characteristics are why he is so entertaining in the first place.

Daisy

Daisy in Mario Tennis Aces

Daisy is a princess, but does not have much of a role in the Mario franchise. She is stupendous in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and is quite fun to use in sports games, but she has not been part of a big story since Super Mario Land.

There are so many areas where Nintendo could explore her character more. It would be extremely intriguing for Nintendo to create a game where Luigi saves Daisy or vise versa. Making it possess qualities to a game like Super Mario Odyssey would be perfect.

Piantas

Although the Nokis are definitely adorable, it is clear that they do not leave as much of an impact as the Piantas in Super Mario Sunshine. They are the individuals who make Mario clean the city and can be quite imposing when angry.

However, they do of course make amends when Mario saves the day. As characters themselves, though, they are quite humorous. It is refreshing being able to use them in the Mario Super Sluggers series, but fans want more. Perhaps another game in Isle Delfino would make that happen.

Parakarry

Parakarry carrying Paper Mario

Parakarry is one of Mario's biggest allies in the original installment of Paper Mario. He is a mail-delivery person, but what is quite humorous about him is that he is not good at his job. All he does is constantly drop and lose mail, which Mario has to help retrieve.

However, he is a very useful helper in the game to Mario, as he handles himself well in battle. However, what is so disappointing is after this game, he makes one short cameo appearance in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and then is never seen again.

Rosalina

Upon making her debut in Super Mario Galaxy, Rosalina has become quite popular with fans. However, what is very interesting is she does not help Mario again on his large adventures after the second installment.

She is unlockable in Super Mario 3D World, but players definitely want her in a big role in a future sequel of Super Mario Odyssey. If that does not come to fruition, it would be great just to have her in another big game.

Cappy

Cappy and Mario in Super Mario Odyssey

Cappy is Mario's main ally in Super Mario Odyssey and for the most part, he builds himself a great reputation. Perhaps the one negative about him in the game is that the player is not able to do too much with him.

Alas, Cappy provides spectacular help for Mario and warrants appearances in many more of his adventures. He is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate when Mario performs his Super Jump Punch, but he needs to be in far more games in the future.

Toadsworth

Mario, Peach and Toadsworth in Super Mario Sunshine

Toadsworth is another huge part of Super Mario Sunshine, as he accompanies Mario and Peach on their trip to Isle Delfino. His caring nature allows the player to instantly love him, as he constantly is looking after Peach and Toad.

However, his roles have been decreasing in significance over the years. He is a marvelous pitcher in Mario Super Sluggers and also often makes brief cameos in Mario's journeys, but he deserves more.

Bob-omb Buddy

Mario talking to Bob-omb Buddy in Super Mario 64

Bom-omb Buddy is one of the most important characters in Super Mario 64, as they assist the player with learning the game. They quickly differentiate themselves from the villainous Bob-ombs, as they are pacifists.

Given their significance to this iconic game, it is strange that they are not often used today. They do return in Super Mario Galaxy 2 to this role in the Throwback Galaxy, but it is far too short of a cameo. This ally needs far more screentime and to join a big adventure in the future.
