Nintendo has announced its E3 2021 Direct for the last day of the all-digital convention, where it will reveal Nintendo Switch games "mostly releasing in 2021." Nintendo's presence at the show will last almost four hours altogether and will focus exclusively on software, meaning it's incredibly unlikely the company plans to talk about any upcoming hardware releases like the reported Switch Pro.

Many expect an imminent reveal of the heavily rumored Nintendo Switch Pro, which will supposedly be a notable upgrade from the base version of the console with an OLED screen, 4K resolution support, and more. Although it has yet to be officially confirmed, many reputable sources have corroborated its existence and seem to suggest it will be revealed very soon. If that's the case, it's likely Nintendo will reveal the console before E3 2021 to get the announcement out ahead of the event.

Announced on Wednesday, Nintendo will host a roughly 40-minute-long Nintendo Direct on June 15 at 9 AM PDT/12 PM EDT, followed by three hours of additional gameplay during a Nintendo Treehouse stream shortly after. The company stresses that it's focusing on software "mostly releasing in 2021" during the stream, so it sounds as though some games destined for 2022 or later will also be present. Both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Bayonetta 3 are expected to have new information released about them sometime this year, so Nintendo seems to be leaving the door open for some of its less immediate releases at its E3 Direct.

Nintendo currently has a largely empty slate for the second half of its 2021 release schedule, so it's likely the company will be dropping dates on at least a few upcoming Switch games. Whether or not this could lead to a back-to-back line-up of the likes of Metroid Prime 4Bayonetta 3, and Breath of the Wild 2 remains to be seen (and is a doubtful prospect overall), it doesn't seem out of the question to expect at least one of those games to be featured during the E3 Nintendo Direct.

Nintendo usually has exciting E3 press conferences, so the imminent Nintendo Direct at the all-digital E3 2021 will surely have some surprises in store. With the Nintendo Switch Pro rumored to be revealed before E3, it's possible Nintendo fans have an exciting month ahead of them if events play out the way rumors and reports indicate. If the new revision of the Switch is revealed before E3 2021, it's probable there will be some mention of it at the following Nintendo Direct, but it likely won't be terribly in-depth.
