One of BOOM! Studios biggest team-ups is coming back, as the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles join forces once more. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II is coming later this year. Fans of the last team-up are being promised higher stakes in the upcoming series.
Back in 2019, the Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers found themselves confronting the Shredder, who had taken control of Tommy Oliver's Dragon Power coin - effectively taking on the new form of Green Ranger Shredder. The two teams combined forces to fight not only Shredder, but also classic Power Ranger villain Rita Repulsa. This may have seemed like the biggest fight the two could have together, but a new adventure on the horizon promises more for fans of both teams to enjoy.
In a new press release, BOOM! Studios announced the return of the Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in a secondary team-up. This December, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II will bring forth "unexpected villains" and lots of "twists and turns." The creative team for the series includes Ryan Parrott and Dan Mora. Parrott was the writer of the previous crossover and Dan Mora provided cover art. Now, these comic creators will join forces to give fans these iconic teenage teams' next biggest adventure.
This series is a partnership between BOOM! Studios (under license by Hasbro, Inc.), IDW Publishing, and Nickelodeon. The story is said to bring the teams together again "to save the world from a rising danger that threatens to bring both teams to the brink!" As seen in the Tweet above, Dan Mora will also be providing wraparound main cover art for the first issue. The cover features many iconic TMNT villains, including the Foot Clan, Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady. Senior Editor Dafna Pleban offers some more details in the official press release:
"The first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles team up resulted in iconic moments such as the revival of the Green Ranger Shredder, the Ninja Rangers, and the mighty Turtlezord! But if you think there's nothing that could top that, just wait 'til you see what's up next for both teams as they face familiar faces and unexpected villains in an adventure full of the new shocking twists and turns!"
Considering the success of the previous series (the first issue had three printings), it's exciting to see the return of this team-up. The Power Rangers recently began their cross over with Godzilla and returning to one of the best crossovers is sure to bring lots of excitement to these fan bases - especially those who have been following the Power Rangers comics as of late. It has been a big year for the Power Rangers in terms of announcements and they'll be closing out the year in a huge way.
Fans of both heroic teams can check out the latest team-up when Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II #1 releases in December.
