In DC Comics, the original Bat-Family member known as Nightwing and the Amazonian Princess called Wonder Woman are two iconic characters that fans know and love, and now in a uniquely creative cosplay, both heroes combine to form a new kind of champion never seen before!
Shared on Twitter by username @carlosgzz03, Carlos immediately comes off as a seasoned cosplayer if a quick scroll through his page is any indication. An artist who develops his own concept art for various comic book, anime, and film characters, Carlos also excels at pulling off highly detailed cosplays, going so far as to add a gender-flipped bent to some of his work which he brings to life in ways not many other people can.
As fans are well aware, Nightwing aka Dick Grayson is the first sidekick turned solo hero of Batman and is highly-regarded as a skilled combatant and acrobat who never shies away from a fight yet doesn't brazenly look for one either. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince is a powerhouse of a hero who can not only stand toe-to-toe with Superman but holds more compassion and empathy in her pinky finger than many do in their entire bodies.
For this cosplay, Carlos makes it abundantly clear that this “Wonder Wing” isn’t someone to be trifled with, as his images depict a hero that shares all the best qualities of Nightwing’s badass nature mixed with Wonder Woman’s power and grace. Posting a picture of his stunning concept art beside the final costume, fans can see that Carlos has used the blue and black color scheme of Nightwing’s body suit with the gold, silver, white, and even red trimmings of costume flourishes from Wonder Woman’s past. Equipped with golden escrima sticks and a blue domino mask, Carlos' creation remixes Nightwing’s iconic chest logo with a layered “W” design, continuing with this stylistic choice by adding a similar Wonder Woman-esque belt placed high on his waist to finish out the look.
Two heroes who stand on their own as pillars of the superhero community, fusing Nightwing and Wonder Woman together may seem like an odd choice at first, but once presented in all of its cosplay glory, ends up becoming one of the most inspired looks seen in recent memory. Perfectly combining the athletic design of Nightwing’s costume with a bold armored arrangement that would make Wonder Woman proud, Carlos shows off his nerd tendencies in a way that proves to be as successful as it is visually appealing, while leaving fans to wonder what other fusions he can come up with for his next cosplay project.
So while the fusion of Nightwing and Wonder Woman may never happen in comics (but then again, what are alternate Earths for if not for stuff like this?), Carlos proves that taking a chance on a wild design such as this is well worth the time spent realizing it.
