As unlikely as it may seem, Tim Drake and Nightwing both share a possibly cosmic link in their chosen codenames. A surprising number of the Batfamily have a link to Draconic lore or Dragon iconography, something that isn't expected, given the fact they're members of the Batfamily.

Batman was once sent back in time by Darkseid's omega effect, during this time, he was marked by the cosmic dragon Barbatos. Barbatos exists in the Dark Multiverse, a twisted evil version of the main universe, but he had plans to invade the main multiverse. To reach these ends, he intended to use Batman as a portal to allow him to enter from the Dark Multiverse, which he succeeded in doing. This isn't the only link a member of the Batfamily has to a dragon though.

Not many people know why Dick Grayson actually chose the name Nightwing after he quit being Robin. After he left Bruce's employe, Dick sought out Superman, and Superman told him the story of Nightwing, a Kryptonian God. In ACtion Comics #886 and 888 by Greg Rucka, Eric Trautman, and Pere Pérez, readers learn that the Kryptonian Nightwing was a dragon of shadows, made by Rao, to hunt down the creatures in the dark that Rao could not see. This story inspired Dick, for obvious reasons, and he took the name for himself. Tim Drake, on the other hand, his connection to a dragon is a bit more plain and simple, being in his last name is Drake, which he also used as his vigilante name for a period of time. Both of these are connections to dragons, but it goes further even further than that.

Nightwing's dragon form from Superman's mythology.

Duke Thomas, while not a Robin technically, is still a member of the Batfamily and he too has a strange connection to dragons. In the pages of Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Dark Nights Metal by Scott Snyder, Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Karl Mostert, readers see Duke Thomas, as the final hero of a dying Multiverse. He battles against the Justice League, who had fallen to Barbatos and have become monstrous dragons themselves. Batman himself has been transformed into The Dragon of the End, which Duke battles and actually slays, Duke then skins and transforms the dragon's hide into a powerful armor. Allowing Duke to become The Last Knight, and solidifying his connection to dragons as well.

Including Batman's connection to Barbatos, this shows that three other Batfamily members have also been connected to dragons in some way through their names or actions. While it's unlikely anything is ever to come from this connection, it's not impossible. The Court of Owls were the ones who served Barbatos and also prepped Batman to be used as a portal by Barbatos. This same Court of Owls also had a very personal connection and interest in Nightwing, having been related to the circus Nightwing grew up in and having chosen Nightwing to serve them as their Talon. If DC were ever to revisit this strange cosmic connection, it could definitely prove interesting for Nightwing, Tim Drake, and Duke Thomas.
