Comic fans come up with outstanding cosplays and a new Nightwing one is taking inspiration from the current ongoing series in a big way. In a cosplay from Lis Wonder, the hero's mantle is being passed down. This cosplay takes inspiration from both the Snyderverse and the current run of Nightwing, which recently introduced a half-sister for the titular hero.
Nightwing currently has the creative team of Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas, and Wes Abbott. They recently introduced a new potential ally for Nightwing in the form of Melinda Zucco, Dick Grayson's half-sister, though the hero has his suspicions. Zucco debuted in Nightwing #78, earlier this year, and Nightwing #82 revealed her family history and how she relates to the titular hero. However, whether she'll be a true ally remains to be seen.
On Twitter, Lis Wonder shared her Dick Grayson/Melinda Zucco mash-up. She wears a custom Nightwing muscle suit and pairs it with a hairstyle reminiscent of Nightwing's half-sister. Considering the potential alliance that could be formed between the two, it is definitely a fitting combination. After all, Melinda is the current mayor of Blüdhaven and she claims to have fake allegiances to crime bosses such as Maroni and Blockbuster, meaning she could play both sides. This cosplay pays lots of attention to the details of Nightwing's outfit and weaponry while also toying with an unexpected, gender-swapped concept. As a new character with only around five appearances, Melinda doesn't have as long a history as Nightwing and his other allies. Her true allegiances and potential impact on the city of Blüdhaven are works in progress that have been largely postponed thanks to the events of Fear State. Nightwing has been fighting alongside the rest of the Bat-Family to stop Magistrate and Scarecrow's attack on Gotham, taking him out of his current patrolling grounds. The last time Melinda was seen, she was watching Dick Grayson's announcement of the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation with her mother. DC seems to be shaping her into a major player in the Bat-Family's universe and this cosplay proves just how seamlessly Melinda could be folded in, assuming they're all on the same side.
Melinda Zucco is just starting out her comic history with DC, but the character certainly has a lot of potential. The path she chooses has the chance to greatly help or severely hurt Nightwing's ongoing work to improve Blüdhaven. As the mayor, she can be a force for good - while also pitting the crime bosses against one another. However, if she turns out to be conning Nightwing, she knows his secret identity and could reveal him to his foes. She could also be responsible for Blüdhaven falling further despite Dick's efforts to save the city from the criminal hold upon it. While Melinda's chances of suiting up in her brother's place are slim at the moment, this Nightwing/Melinda Zucco cosplay does a fantastic of pondering an intriguing what-if scenario.
