Fans are about to get to see what it's like to be Nightwing in a highly innovative comic book. An upcoming issue will allow fans to see a day in the life of Dick Grayson in yet another experimental adventure.

DC has unveiled the solicitations for its upcoming releases in June. Not only does the publisher provide first looks at its offerings for Pride Month, but glimpses at the starting points of new titles such as The Penguin and Steelworks. But hidden among the many titles and specials DC has prepared for June is curious solicitation for an upcoming issue of Nightwing.

Masterminds Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo are back at it again to present Nightwing fans another special issue uniquely designed for them to be Nightwing for a day! This oversize story will feature Nightwing from his point of view, allowing readers to use his escrima sticks and leap through Blüdhaven! You don’t want to miss this issue, as there’ll be other surprises along the way, including who’ll show up beside you!

From the team of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo comes a special issue of Nightwing that tells its story entirely from Dick Grayson's point of view. The comic is a special oversized story that puts readers in Nightwing's shoes and allows them to see what an average day is like for Blüdhaven's iconic hero. Fans are already getting a glimpse as to how the comic will work thanks to a cover by Nightwing artist Bruno Redondo as well as a variant from Vasco Georgiev that mimic a first-person POV.

While most comic books from publishers like Marvel and DC are generally traditional, occasionally creative teams will experiment with the medium to tell stories in exciting new ways. There have been ‘silent’ comics that have only used art to communicate its narrative and comics that can bead both forwards and backwards like visual palindromes. Even the team of Taylor and Redondo have thought outside the box in their time on Nightwing and created an issue out of one continuous image.

But putting readers in a first-person POV to tell a story is a pretty innovative idea. While numerous video games and even films have utilized the perspective, the comic book medium has surprisingly few stories told in this manner. There have been some books like The Multiversity: Ultra Comics #1 which spoke directly to the reader, but there haven’t been many that allow fans to see from their favorite heroes’ perspectives. Given the creative freedom that comes with comics, one would think it would be a bit more commonplace. But Taylor and Redondo are giving Nightwing fans a chance to simulate being one of the DC Universe's biggest icons.

For a first-person comic book, there are few heroes suited to it better than Dick Grayson. As an acrobat from birth, Nightwing’s skills have him jumping and flying all across the skyline of his city, no doubt making for some stunning visuals. Taylor and Redondo drew a lot of acclaim for their last experiment, and it seems like they really want to outdo themselves by giving fans the chance to see what crime-fighting looks like from Dick’s perspective. Fans can a day in the life of DC’s amazing aerialist in Nightwing #105, on sale June 20th.
