Warning! Spoilers ahead for Nightwing #93

In the latest issue of DC Comics' Nightwing, Dick Grayson's adorable dog takes her place in history as one of the most epic Super-Pets of all time...with some help from Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. Adopted by Nightwing at the beginning of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's run, Haley (aka Bitewing) is seemingly an average three-legged puppy with no special powers or training like Superman's dog Krypto or Batman's dog Ace. However, this new issue continues the trend of Haley having an "active" role in saving the day.

In previous issues of Nightwing, Dick Grayson has been working to reshape his city of Blüdhaven, wanting to become a safety net for those who have fallen and need help getting back on their feet. Using the large sum of money Nightwing inherited from Alfred Pennyworth, Dick has been using his billions to build new foundations and infrastructure to do just that. However, this has put him at odds with Blüdhaven's criminal and corrupt elements who rely on those same people to keep their operations running.

Now, the new Nightwing #93 sees Nightwing confronting Blüdhaven's corrupt Polic Commissioner Maclean who's in league with the city's biggest crime boss Blockbuster. While Maclean tries to shut down Dick Grayson's new Haven by making it seem unsafe and tripling the police presence around the area to harass potential visitors, Batgirl finds definitive proof of the Blüdhaven Police Department's extensive corruption and makes it public for the entire city to see. However, Barbara uses Haley's paw to execute the command, adorably making Bitewting "responsible" for saving the day.

Hilariously, this isn't the first time Haley has been so involved in an issue of Nightwing. In past issues, Batgirl claimed it was Bitewing who apparently decided that Dick Grayson needed additional protection due to the major target on his back. Likewise, Beast Boy claimed that Haley was the one who "convinced" all of the Titans to get together to keep her owner safe from potential assassination attempts (which did indeed happen). It's an adorable running gag that gives Nightwing's puppy more of a role beyond just being one of the cutest dogs in the entire DC Universe.

In any case, helping expose police corruption is now one of Haley's best and most impressive tricks. While she may not have the powers of a Super-Dog like Krypto, that's not stopping Bitewing from doing her part and being a bright spot in Nightwing's hectic life as a vigilante. Here's hoping the fun continues with Haley doing more to "help" as Nightwing continues.
