For National Superhero Day 2022 DC Comics is finally acknowledging what fans really want to see: Nightwing's iconic butt taking the spotlight. In a hilarious Twitter post from the main DC Comics account the popular publisher posted an image of Dick Grayson smugly looking at a cake featuring his own infamous posterior, one that even Nightwing's biggest haters can't help but admire.

Nightwing has been getting loads of attention for his fabulous bottom for years, with fans and critics alike mesmerized by the impressive filling out of his skintight costume. Dick Grayson's ample rear has become ubiquitous with other DC characters defining features like Superman's chiseled jaw line or Harley Quinn's blue and pink hair. Finally, DC is explicitly acknowledging what fans have known all along: Nightwing's butt is the star of the show.

In a tweet posted by DC Comics on National Superhero Day, April 28th, the company's social media team posted a truly epic art of Nightwing looking directly at the viewer, looking particularly proud, as he serves a cake featuring his logo and his ample derrière. The image uses an iconic variant cover drawn by artist Babs Tarr for Nightwing: Rebirth #1. Truly, is it any surprise that Dick is locked in a perpetual love triangle? It makes perfect sense that Barbara Gordon and Koriand'r would fight anybody to maintain claim over Nightwing's backside. Of course, some critics claim that focusing so heavily on Grayson's buttocks is inappropriate, but after literal decades spent over-sexualizing women in comics, isn't it only fair that female and queer fans get to appreciate this man's physique? This tweet is clearly showing that DC is not afraid to give their readers what they want anymore.

Nightwing's butt has been used to subvert stereotypical depictions of female superheroes since at least 2009, when Gail Simone and Nicola Scott's Secret Six #9 featured Nightwing striking a sexy pose showing off his famous rear. Recently Nightwing has also been featured partially clad in several variant covers, like an incredibly sexy boxing cover by Babs Tarr for Robins #1 and a shirtless yoga cover by David Talaski for Nightwing #92. It also has become a joke within the universe of DC Comics, with numerous characters acknowledging the silhouette of his backside.

Fans of Dick Grayson don't just like him for his behind, he is also an incredibly sweet and emotionally vulnerable young man who has turned into a seeker of true justice in Blüdhaven, and his adorable puppy sidekick Haley doesn't hurt either. Regardless of why Nightwing is such a popular member of Bat-Family, one thing is for sure, DC Comics knows that fans of Grayson will always appreciate his wonderful butt, especially on National Superhero Day.
