International music sensation Billie Eilish has lent her unique vocal stylings to a recent The Nightmare Before Christmas live concert experience. Eilish, who released her second studio album Happier Than Ever earlier this year, along with a companion concert video on Disney+, first came into the public eye with her 2015 debut single Ocean Eyes recorded when she was only 13 years old. Since then she has gone on to rack up seven Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, as well as currently holding the Guinness World Record for the youngest female artist to make No. 1 on the UK albums chart.

An animated classic, The Nightmare Before Christmas, has been beloved by fans since its original release in 1993. Originally created by Tim Burton as a three-page poem, the initial concept for the film was to release it as a television special narrated by screen legend Vincent Price. Disney had started to consider producing Burton’s ideas as a 30-minute short film in the 1980s, but the project later stalled and Burton parted ways with the studio soon after. Yet after Burton’s later success with Batman and Beetlejuice, Disney reconsidered the project and Burton committed to producing a full-length, stop-motion feature film adaptation with Henry Selick as director. Burton’s frequent collaborator, Danny Elfman, would also later convince him to transform the film into a musical.

Most recently, Eilish adopted the role of Sally, a Frankenstein’s monster-like character, and Jack Skellington’s love interest, in a The Nightmare Before Christmas live concert experience held at the Banc of California Stadium (shared by YouTube user lucid). Introduced to the stage by Elfman,  the film’s composer and original singing voice of Jack, Eilish delivered an amazing rendition of "Sally’s Song" in full costume. Check out a video of the performance below:

This, of course, is not the first time famous recording artists have become involved with performing music from the fan-favorite holiday film. Back in 2006 Disney rereleased a special edition of the original motion picture soundtrack which featured new covers from Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and controversial, embattled rock star Marilyn Manson. Even Sally’s Song, which Eilish performed in the recent concert experience, was re-recorded by singer-songwriter Fiona Apple at the time.

With Eilish also having recorded the theme song for Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond in No Time to Die, her latest performance as Sally proves that Eilish is destined for more crossovers into the world of film. With Eilish’s own enormous fanbase, it is also more than likely that a whole new generation of fans will also be introduced to, and inevitably fall in love with, Burton’s animated masterpiece via her recent performance. Meanwhile, both new and old fans alike can recapture the magic of the original The Nightmare Before Christmas on Disney+.
