Intellivison has released a new gameplay trailer showing what the Night Stalker remake will look like on the new Intellivison Amico console. The original Night Stalker released back in 1982 for the Intellivision system and was later ported to the Atari 2600 as Dark Cavern.

The new Amico console was announced back in 2018, and was officially unveiled behind closed doors at E3 2019. The console was developed because the company wants to see a return to family gaming and couch co-op. The Amico will focus on 2D and 2D.5 games for the most part. While 3D games will be allowed, they must be easy to play and learn. Intellivison wants all of the games on the system to be family friendly, and has stated that a quarter of the games will be remakes of classic arcade games. The Amico Console is set release on October 10th, 2020.

On January 24th Intellivison posted a gameplay trailer of Night Stalker to their official YouTube page. The video begins by showing viewers what the original game looked and played like before showing off the improved graphics and gameplay of the remake. The most interesting features that the trailer shows off are the new multiplayer aspects to the game, and new levels for players to advance to.

The original Night Stalker featured only single player gameplay. The player is trapped in a hedgerow maze with no exits and must find ways to avoid the enemies that pursue them. Players begin the game completely defenseless and bats and robots spawn into the map to try and kill them. As the game progresses a gun will spawn that players can use to destroy any enemies that attempt to harm them. Once the gun runs out of ammunitions players must run around defenseless until they can acquire a new one. Unlike the remake, Night Stalker only features one unchanging map that players move around in for the entirety of the game.

The world is now flooded with different forms of entertainment that make people nostalgic for the things of their childhood. Companies like Sega, Sony, and Nintendo have all released consoles that feature their older classic titles. Video game players seem more and more likely to want to play the games that made them happy as children, and it looks like Intellivision is now trying to break into that market. Night Stalker though could have just been an exact replica of the original release, and it looks like Intellivison has put a lot of work into modernizing the classic title.
