We reported earlier this week that writer/director M. Night Shyamalan's has been shopping around his latest screenplay to potential distributors, with several big stars already attached to the project.
Despite the strict security measures put in place to keep the plot of Shyamalan's new script under wraps, a few scant details about The Sixth Sense director's latest original work have been revealed.
Deadline was reporting that Buried writer Chris Sparling will pen the screenplay for Twelve Strangers - the second flick to be released though Shyamalan's Night Chronicles production company - when it unveiled the following bit of information concerning the auteur's new screenplay:
I'm told Bradley Cooper would play a father on a desperate search for his missing child. It might stray into 'Taken' terrain, but the father taps into some supernatural powers to aid the search.
Since it was announced that Shymalan's Sixth Sense/Unbreakable leading man Bruce Willis was already attached to the filmmaker's latest script - alongside Cooper and Iron Man's Gwyneth Paltrow - many individuals have been speculating/hoping that this new project would be the long-rumored sequel, Unbreakable 2, which both Willis and Shyamalan have spoken about in recent years. Assuming that Deadline's information is correct, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Taken was a surprise hit back in 2008 that featured Liam Neeson as an ex-secret agent who ends up kicking some major butt while on a quest to rescue his daughter from European sex traffickers - we even honored the character in our recent Favorite Movie Dads feature. I think it unlikely that Cooper will be the same tour de force that Neeson was in Taken - even with the addition of supernatural powers - but we'll wait and see how it goes.
