Actress Melissa Rauch of The Big Bang Theory will star in the upcoming reboot of the 1980’s sitcom Night Court. Rauch is most well-known for playing the character Bernadette on Big Bang Theory, and after the show’s conclusion, had plans to move on to executive producing for Night Court. Now, it appears Rauch will not just be a producer, but also a member of the cast.

An exclusive report from Deadline confirmed that Melissa Rauch would be taking on the role of optimistic judge Abby Stone. Abby is the daughter of Harry Stone, who was the main character of the 1980’s series played by the late Harry Anderson. The story of the Night Court reboot will follow Abby as she oversees the chaotic staff during the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court. Rauch will star alongside John Larroquette, who will be reprising his original Night Court role as prosecutor Dan Fielding.

Fans of The Big Bang Theory are likely excited to see how Rauch will perform in this new series. Though a side character, Bernadette played a crucial role in The Big Bang Theory, and Rauch may be able to bring some of that same energy to her role as Abby Stone. There aren’t many other details about the Night Court reboot as of yet, but a pilot is set to be delivered to NBC sometime soon.
