There are several characters from the original Night Court who could return to appear in the revival series. The new Night Court proved popular with audiences and critics alike and earned a swift renewal for season 2. Despite this, the fact that John Larroquette was the only actor from the original Night Court to return for the reboot raised questions regarding whether other characters from the classic courtroom comedy might return for a cameo.

The question was posed to Night Court reboot executive producer Dan Rubin, who confirmed that there was no intentional snubbing of characters from the original series, like Marsha Warfield's Roz Russell. However, Rubin believed it was important the new Night Court first prove that it had more going for it than simple nostalgia, adding that the wonderful thing about the Night Court premise is "anyone can walk through those doors at any moment." This makes it entirely possible that many beloved recurring characters from the original series could come back for more. Here are some of the classic characters who might appear for the new Night Court.

10 Al Craven

Night Court Al Craven

As cowardly and slimy as his surname suggested, Al Craven put the "yellow" in yellow journalism. Employed by the Manhattan Gazette, Al Craven lurked around Harry Stone's courtroom throughout Night Court season 1, looking for scandalous cases to write about. This included a hit-piece about Judge Harry Stone himself, who had a sealed juvenile criminal record regarding an incident where he stole his father's car and crashed it into a liquor store as a teenager. Played by Terry Kiser, who later found fame playing the title role in Weekend at Bernie's, Craven could conceivably return to plague Abby Stone's courtroom in the same way.

9 Billie Young

Night Court Billie Young and Harry Stone

Played by actress/singer Ellen Foley, Billie Young served as the Public Defender in Judge Stone's court in Night Court season 2. Feisty but good-natured and dedicated to her work, Billie was presented as a possible love interest for Harry, filling the role that had been intended for Christine Sullivan and Markie Post, before her recurring role on The Fall Guy prevented her from joining the Night Court cast. Billie Young disappeared without explanation after Post freed herself for Night Court season 3. While Ellen Foley has focused on her music in recent years, she could return to give Billie the closure the original Night Court didn't.

8 Quon Lee Duc Robinson

Night Court Quon Le

First appearing in the Night Court season 2 episode "Take My Wife, Please," Quon Lee Duc was a Vietnamese refugee, who met Mac Robinson while he was serving in the US Army. The two fell in love in earnest, after originally getting married to allow Quon Lee to stay in the United States. While never a core member of the Night Court cast of characters, actress Denice Kumagai was a frequent special guest, playing Quon Lee in 17 episodes over the course of eight seasons, and she could return to play Quon Lee again in the Night Court revival.

7 Bob and June Wheeler

Night Court Bob and June Wheeler

Bob and June Wheeler may have been the most unfortunate people to pass through Judge Stone's courtroom, having survived numerous weird disasters including exploding incubators, worm stampedes and being struck by lightning. The pair proved popular and were set to join the cast permanently in Night Court season 5, taking over the courthouse newsstand. Unfortunately for Annie O'Donnell, who played June Wheeler, Brent Spiner was cast as Data in Star Trek: The Next Generation and elected to boldly go to space rather than return as Bob Wheeler. The pair's sudden disappearance following the Night Court season 4 finale was never explained, but the Night Court revival could bring them back.

6 Buddy Ryan

Night Court Buddy Ryan

The eccentric Buddy Ryan first appeared in the Night Court season 4 premiere, where he introduced himself as the second husband of Harry's estranged mother. Later episodes revealed that Buddy was truly Harry's biological father. Buddy kept this fact hidden for fear that Harry's legal career might be hurt if it became public knowledge that his parents had met as patients in a psychiatric hospital. Buddy had many colorful stories about his life, most of which ended with his catchphrase, "But I'm feeling much better now!" Played by John Astin, the first actor to play Gomez Addams, Buddy could conceivably visit his granddaughter, Abby, in the Night Court revival.

5 Leon

Night Court Leon

First seen as a shoe-shine boy working outside the cafeteria, Leon was revealed to be an orphan who had built a nest for himself inside the courthouse. Harry Stone acted as Leon's foster father for a time, but Leon returned to the streets after Harry's petition to adopt him was rejected. Leon was last seen in the Night Court season 4 episode "Halloween II: The Return of Leon," where he turned himself in and reentered foster care. It would be interesting if the Night Court revival confirmed that Harry and Leon kept in touch by having Bumper Robinson return as an older Leon and check in on his sister Abby.

4 Yakov Korolenko

Night Court Yakov Korolenko

Played by Ukranian comedian Yakov Smirnoff, Yakov Korolenko was one of the most endearing characters of the original Night Court series. Originally brought before Harry Stone on charges of selling stolen merchandise, the judge formed an odd friendship with the immigrant, helping Yakov to become an American citizen and bring the rest of his family to the United States. It seems likely that Harry and Yakov would have remained fast friends, opening the door for Yakov to come through Abby's court to check up on the daughter of the man who saved his life and family.

3 Lisette Hocheiser

Night Court Lisette Hocheiser

First appearing in the Night Court season 8 premiere, Lisette Hocheiser was a late addition to Harry Stone's court. Originally mousy and meek, the shy stenographer acquired a sassy streak after developing a close friendship with Roz Russell. Despite appearing in nearly every episode of Night Court's final two seasons, Lisette's fate remains one of the many questions unresolved by the original Night Court finale.

2 Wanda Flinn Shannon

Night Court Wanda Flinn Shannon

Played by Cathy McAuley, Wanda Flinn was a matchmaker hired by bailiff Bull Shannon to help him find his perfect woman. She wound up matching Bull with herself and the two were married in the Night Court season 9 episode "Get Me To The Roof On Time." Wanda never appeared on the show after her wedding and was not mentioned in the series finale, where Bull was abducted by aliens who needed a tall man to reach the things on their highest shelves. It might be amusing if Wanda appeared in the Night Court revival, searching for her missing "Bully-Bear."

1 Will Sanders

Night Court Will Sanders

William Utay played the part of Phil Sanders, the eccentric tycoon turned homeless henchman to Dan Fielding, who helped bring about the redemption of Dan Fielding by putting Dan in charge of the charitable foundation established with his wealth. Utay also played Phil's twin brother Will Sanders, who originally schemed to embezzle the foundation's funds and frame Dan for the crime. Luckily, Dan's redemption inspired his own, and Will wound up assuming his brother's position as Dan's loyal flunkie. The Night Court revival could easily bring Utay back and reveal what Will Sanders is up to now.
