The unexpected, yet highly anticipated fighting game Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has released, and looking at every character in its launch roster, it has an impressive array of cartoon icons. When the game was first announced, many who were understandably skeptical viewed it as a nostalgia-fueled cash grab, but pre-launch moveset videos for All-Star Brawl's characters have revealed a deliberately designed brawler. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has managed to keep a decent amount of attention on itself by gradually revealing its cast of characters, all of which hail from classic Nickelodeon cartoons.
The Nickelodeon characters will clash in Super Smash Bros.-esque showdowns across a variety of stages from the series the characters are taken from. The premise is delightfully silly, but the developers at Ludosity and Fair Play Labs have competitive aspirations for All-Star Brawl. It remains to be seen if the game can generate a competitive scene, but Nickelodeon itself is trying to cultivate one by hosting an invitational tournament for launch day on its Twitch channel.
Players will no doubt gravitate toward their favorite cartoon characters first, but there appears to be a wide variety of moves in the large roster. There are a total of 20 fighters in the game (21 if counting tag teams, and 22 if considering CatDog's independent personalities), with more expected to come as DLC. There are also 20 stages in the base game, and those too might be expanded after some time.

The character roster for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is already pretty impressive, but there are some notable shows missing from the line-up, such as The Fairly OddParents and Jimmy Neutron, among others. There hasn't yet been any official word on who All-Star Brawls' DLC characters will be, but they are reportedly already in the works and expected not too long after launch. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is shaping up to be a legitimate competitor in the fighting genre when combining its nostalgia-filled roster with its rollback net code for online play.
