Nick Frost, a popular choice for the role of Penguin, says he's open to playing the character in the DC Extended Universe. A rumor emerged yesterday that Penguin may be the main villain in Matt Reeves' The Batman. According to the same report, Penguin could alternately appear in another DCEU film, Birds of Prey.

English actor Nick Frost is mostly known for co-starring alongside Simon Pegg in The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy, which consists of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and World's End. Though the actor has appeared in a number of comedies, Frost has also played roles in several big-budget action films, including Snow White and the Huntsman, The Huntsman: Winter's War, and Tomb Raider. Frost is currently a series regular in AMC's post-apocalyptic martial arts series Into the Badlands where he plays Bajie, a heavy-drinking monk with questionable morals.

Since the report was first reported, fans have already begun asking for Frost to be cast as the character. Many feel that Frost's comedic talents and previous roles make him the best fit for Oswald Cobblepot. In response to a fan's support of Frost playing Penguin in the DCEU, Nick Frost tweeted his thanks and expressed interest in the role.

According to a reporter from Variety, the current script for The Batman has Penguin as the film's main antagonist. Since the script has yet to be finalized, this could change. If so, Penguin could appear in Birds of Prey instead. If the rumor is to be believed, one of the scripts for the film includes Penguin as a villain. If so, it would be the character's first big screen appearance since Danny DeVito played the crime boss in 1992's Batman Returns, directed by Tim Burton.

Penguin could be seen as a perfect choice for a villain in The Batman, considering that the character has a reputation as one of the Caped Crusader's greatest enemies. Penguin could fit well into the story, if The Batman sees Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne take on organized crime.

Aside from Frost, Josh Gad is another actor who has lobbied for the role of Penguin. However, it should certainly be noted that the rumor of Penguin appearing in The Batman should be taken with a grain of salt. Fans may not see Frost, Gad, or any other actor in the role since Warner Bros. hasn't confirmed the rumors.
