New York Comic Con is quickly approaching and we have a list of the best TV and movie panels to check out. Held from October 4th-7th this year at the Javits Center in NYC, the convention gives fans a look at the upcoming TV shows, movies, comics, and video games to get excited about. Besides panels, there are also signings with special guests, plenty of awesome cosplay to check out, and an artist alley full of goodies waiting to be purchased.

Cons are always full of surprises and NYCC is one of the few cons where TV reigns supreme. Previous years of NYCC have seen Marvel and Netflix making a big splash- like in 2016 when Sigourney Weaver was announced as the villain of The Defenders. This year, Marvel will return to promote season 3 of Daredevil along with other TV properties such as The Runaways and Marvel Rising. And Marvel isn't the only studio with a big presence, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and BBC all have panels to promote shows fans are sure to be excited about.

They will be sharing exclusive material and "thrilling tales" from the production of the film which was adapted from the book by Philip Reeve.

Update: Hugo Weaving can no longer attend NYCC 2018.

Marvel’s Runaways

runaways show cast

Marvel's Runaways made an appearance at NYCC last year and is returning this year to promote the teen superhero drama's second season. Marvel's Head of TV Jeph Loeb, the cast, and producers will be in attendance with an action-packed panel, Q&A, and never-before-seen footage. Amazon's The Boys is a unique take on the superhero genre where the superheroes are the bad guys and the vigilantes known as The Boys are the ones who must take them down. The series will appear at NYCC to give fans a first look at some of the footage. Guests for the panel include showrunner and writer Eric Kripke and stars Karl Urban, Erin Moriarty, and Jack Quaid. The panel will be a good chance for those who haven't read the comics to see what this show is all about and for fans a first glimpse of what the show will look like.

Nightflyers World Premiere Screening and Q&A

Friday, October 5th 4:30–6:00 PM - Hammerstein Ballroom

The world premiere of SYFY's Nightflyers will take place at NYCC this year. The upcoming series is based on a 1980 novella by Game of Thrones mastermind George R.R. Martin, who calls it "Psycho in space".  The show will follow the Nightflyer crew as they race towards making first contact- which leads to violent and terrifying events and their struggle for survival.

The panel will include the screening followed by an exclusive Q&A with creator Jeff Buhler, executive producers Gene Klein and David Bartis, and actors Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, and David Ajala.

Netflix & Chills

Friday, October 5th 7:30–10:00 PM - Main Stage – Javits Center

Netflix is putting on a late night panel for all of their spookiest offerings. The block will include a look at comic book adaptations Umbrella Academy and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as well as limited series The Haunting of Hill House and the first look at the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. It's a perfect way to get in the mood for the season.

And of course, a big panel like this means big stars to match. For Umbrella Academy guests include Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Rob Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, and Cameron Britton. Haunting of Hill House is bringing actors Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Victoria Pedretti. Sabrina will have Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. And Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance is bringing overseers Lisa Henson and Louis Leterrier. Good Omens

Saturday, October 6th 10:00–11:00 AM - The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

Amazon's Good Omens is perhaps one of the most anticipated shows to appear at NYCC because so little is known about the upcoming series outside of its (fantastic) cast. Based off the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, the story revolves around an angel and a demon trying to prevent the oncoming apocalypse. Fans have been eager for a first look since San Diego Comic-Con, which only released a behind the scenes video. NYCC is the perfect time to drop a trailer and a release date.

Gaiman will appear at the panel along with the show's stars David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Richardson, and director Douglas Mackinnon. Expect a heavenly good time and lots of devilish humor.

Hellboy

Saturday, October 6th 11:00 AM–12:00 PM - Main Stage – Javits Center

Hellboy is returning to the big screen and heading to NYCC. The panel for the supernatural superhero film will promote the rebooted film, based off the 1990's comics. It is one of the bigger films to make an appearance at the con with a panel featuring stars David Harbour, Sasha Lane, Daniel Dae Kim, and Ian McShane, as well as comic book creator Mike Mignola. Fans who might be on the fence for the new series will have a chance to learn more about what to expect, hopefully with some footage or a trailer for the new film.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Inside Look

Saturday, October 6th 11:30AM–1:00PM - The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse already has fans excited with trailers and clips showing off its unique animation style and spectacular action. So while the NYCC panel for the animated film hasn't announced any guests yet, it's still a must see. Especially because the panel promises, "an inside look at the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse – where more than one can wear the mask." Could this be hinting at even more versions of Spider-Man appearing in the film?

Another important thing to note: the length of the panel. A panel that long only promoting one film must have some pretty big reveals in store.

Daredevil Season 3

Matt Murdock in the Defenders

Saturday, October 6th 1:30 PM – 2:45 PM - The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

Since The Defenders we haven't heard much from Daredevil, but that's slowly starting to change. With a teaser trailer at the end of Iron Fist and a poster, the character is starting to come to life once more. The panel promises to be "full of surprise reveals"- which could be anything from a release date to news about season 2 of The Punisher or any of the other Netflix Marvel shows.

The NYCC panel guests include Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D'Onofrio, Joanne Whalley, Wilson Bethel, Jay Ali, showrunner Erik Oleson, and of course, Jeph Loeb.

Riverdale Sneak Peek and Q&A

Sunday, October 7th 10:00–11:00 AM - The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

Riverdale brought the drama in season 2 and season 3 looks to be no different. The show will have a NYCC panel previewing what's to come for Archie and the gang, especially now that Archie's been locked up and Hiram Lodge still remains intent on owning the whole town. The panel will include a sneak peak at season 3 along with a Q&A with series stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Luke Perry, Mädchen Amick, executive producer Jon Goldwater, and creator and showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

What We Do In the Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows movie cast with Jemaine Clements and Taika Waititi

Sunday, October 7th 12:00–1:00 PM - Hammerstein Ballroom - 311 W 34th St

FX is bringing its vampire mockumentary What We Do In the Shadows to NYCC for an exclusive screening. The show is an offshoot from the 2015 film by the same name that followed a trio of vampires who have been roommates for hundreds of years. The show is moving the vampires from New Zealand to Staten Island, providing ample opportunity for jokes, misunderstandings, and supernatural hijinks.

Come for the screening, but stay for the sure-to-be hilarious Q&A with executive producers Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Simms.

The Gifted

The Gifted Season 2

Sunday, October 7th 12:30–1:30 PM - Main Stage 1D – Javits Center

Marvel's The Gifted is returning to NYCC for season 2 of the X-Men drama. After a season 1 finale which saw the Mutant Underground split in two, the groups will have to deal with the consequences of their actions as well as Polaris' due date. The panel will give a first look at the new season which picks up 6 months later.

Guests for the panel include actors Emma Dumont, Jamie Chung, Sean Teale, Coby Bell, and Amy Acker, as well as showrunner and executive producer Matt Nix.
