The first addition to New World's weapons list is the Void Gauntlet. The weapon was included with New World's Into The Void update and allows players to harness the mystical powers of void energy to either support allies or damage enemies.

The Void Gauntlet is the fourth magic weapon players can choose in-game, joining the Life Staff, Fire Staff, and Ice Gauntlet. Unlike these other weapons, the Void Gauntlet is the first magic weapon to scale with both Intelligence and Focus, making it an effective off-hand weapon for both healers and mages alike. While it’s still unclear where the Void Gauntlet ranks against the other weapons in New World, the new addition will provide a new playstyle for healing and dealing DPS.

The Void Gauntlet has two mastery trees players can invest points in: Annihilation and Decay. The Annihilation tree focuses on dealing damage up-close with the Void Blade, a sword conjured using void energy. The Decay tree focuses on support from a distance with the Orb of Decay, which heals allies while also debuffing enemies.

Creating the Best Void Gauntlet Build in New World

The Void Gauntlet's active abilities in New World include the following:

  • Void Blade - Summon a blade of void energy that inflicts Disintegrate on light and heavy attacks.
  • Oblivion - Summon a rift of void energy that damages enemies and empowers allies.
  • Petrifying Scream - A scream that staggers and roots enemies within 5 feet.
  • Orb of Decay - Fire an orb that passes through enemies and triggers Disintegrate.
  • Baleful Tether - Launch a tether to an enemy, which weakens them while players empower themselves.
  • Essence Rupture - Shoot a projectile that debuffs an enemy, allowing any ally who damages them to heal.

Another mechanic unique to the Void Gauntlet is that, instead of blocking, players gain the ability to regain mana. This comes at a cost, however, because the regained mana comes at the expense of players draining their own health. The longer players hold the block button, the more mana they regain, and the more health they lose. This mechanic can become extremely useful when wielding two mana-powered weapons.

As with most other weapons in New World, the best Void Gauntlet build includes investing into both the Annihilation and Decay mastery trees. The combination of Void Blade, Petrifying Scream and Orb of Decay makes for a great PVE and PVP build in New World. As of now, the best starter weapon combo to use with the Void Gauntlet is the Life Staff or Ice Gauntlet, creating an effective DPS, healing, and debuffing build in New World.
