The veil is slowly starting to lift on the details of the next new era of the Star Wars universe,  The High Republic. This new era will be is the centerpiece of a massive publishing event that will begin this summer with novels across multiple age ranges from adult to children, as well as comic book series as well. Writer Cavan Scott will be at the helm of Marvel's Star Wars: The High Republic series, and provides new details on the next wave of Jedi fans can look forward to meeting.

The High Republic is reported to be taking place approximately 200 years before The Phantom Menacethe first episode in the Skywalker Saga. A time in which the Sith Wars have ended, and the Jedi Order is at the height of their power in a great period of peace. It's also an era where much of the known galaxy seen during the Skywalker Saga has yet to be explored. The Republic is still expanding into the Outer Rim, and the outskirts are more of an unruly frontier than they are in the films. The Jedi are at the forefront of the expansion, aiding the Republic in its efforts, and operating from a large satellite known as the Starlight Beacon. The Jedi involved are some of the brightest ever known, with their names and appearances now officially unveiled.

As revealed by Scott to StarWars.com, Avar Kriss will be one of the Jedi Order's best and brightest Jedi masters, incredibly compassionate and an inspiration to all of her fellow Jedi around her. Keeve Trennis will be one of those Jedi inspired by Kriss, almost awestruck. Trennis is headstrong but needs to trust in herself as much as she trusts in the Force. There's also Loden Greatstorm, a Twi'lek master who is one of the Order's strongest and best teachers, seeing everything as a teachable moment.

Another Jedi of great nobility is Stellan Gios. While he and Kriss together become a force to be reckoned with, he is stationed on the outskirts of the galaxy's frontier while Kriss is on Starlight Beacon. Lastly, there's also Vernestra “Vern” Rwoh, once a padawan of Gios. One of the Order's youngest knights ever at 16, while she struggles to fit in with her older peers, she's determined to work hard in service to the Jedi Order.

It looks as though much of the focus is on these characters being the best and brightest at a time of great peace and prosperity. However, it's been said the the High Republic tales will begin with a Great Disaster and new threats will begin to emerge. Hopefully all of these new Jedi coming to the Star Wars galaxy will be up to the challenge. It certainly sounds like they can.
