Electronic Arts has confirmed that its studios are currently working on three new Star Wars games. This isn't necessarily surprising, since EA was the sole holder of the publishing rights for Star Wars video games, but that is no longer the case as it seems the exclusivity deal is coming to a close. Star Wars is an incredibly lucrative IP, and EA appears to be diversifying its entries into the universe as other companies begin partnerships with Lucasfilm Games.

EA announced three new Star Wars games are in active development - a sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, and two other untitled projects. Respawn Entertainment, developer of Fallen Order, is apparently getting even more control over the Star Wars license. All three recently announced games are under the purview of Vince Zampella, Respawn's co-founder. Official confirmation of a Fallen Order sequel has been expected for a while now, but announcement of the other two projects are presumed to be an effort at attracting more developers.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of just four games that have been released by EA during its exclusivity period, joining both Battlefront reboots and Squadrons. With EA's games officially part of Disney's new Star Wars canon, Fallen Order follows the story of Cal Kestis, an exiled Jedi Padawan discovered by Imperial Inquisitors five years after the Great Jedi Purge. The sequel has yet to have an official title, but the so-called Fallen Order 2 could be a darker game than its predecessor with the continued rise of the Galactic Empire and Star Wars' affinity for dour sequels.

Very Little Is Known About EA's Untitled Star Wars Games

Respawn Entertainment is involved in all three upcoming EA Star Wars games

EA's other two Star Wars projects in development are a strategy game and a first-person shooter. While Respawn is involved with both (and the primary developer of the FPS), development for the upcoming strategy game is being lead by a new studio, Bit Reactor. Greg Foerstch is the head of Bit Reactor, and was previously employed at Firaxis Games, best known for the Civilization and XCOM series. Foerstch appears to be have been more involved in XCOM, so it's possible the new Star Wars strategy game will be turn-based.

It's impossible to say what the first-person shooter will be about since it's unclear where these untitled Star Wars games fall on the new timeline, but the game's director already has Star Wars FPS experience. Peter Hirschmann worked on the original Battlefront series - as well as a number of other Star Wars games - and will be directing the FPS for Respawn, a studio with plenty of development experience in the genre thanks to Titanfall and Apex LegendsElectronic Arts may not have sole access to the Star Wars license for video games anymore, but the company's already ahead of the curve and has three more games on the way.
