Since the release of the wonderfully nostalgic New Pokémon Snap, many fans have managed to get their Pokémon fill after finishing Pokémon Sword and Shield. However, it seems to be a rite of passage in every Pokémon game that players search for the Kanto starters whenever they can! But, who can blame them when they're this cute!

Nevertheless, the best thing about this brand new Pokémon Snap remake is being able to bear witness to the adorable pokémon in their original states rather than just catching them and making them fight each other. Luckily, these starters aren't the most challenging to find or take photos of. However, for the most part, the player needs to know what to look for when it comes to getting a nice four-star photo or even locating the right place to start looking for these adorable Kanto starters.

Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur in front of some food in New Pokemon Snap.

This absolutely adorable grass type can be found around the early/middle of the game. However, the player has to keep their eyes peeled and head into Elsewhere Forest. This area is only unlocked after the player makes their way through the Voluca and Maricopia islands, so it does take quite a lot of work to find Bulbasaur. When you get into the Elsewhere Forest forest focus on the second and fourth parts, it should start off in a foggy forest before going into a beautiful meadow, which is where Bulbasaur can be found.

Getting a 4-star photo isn't the easiest thing to do in the game, but it is undeniably achievable and a great challenge to work towards. For Bulbasaurs' 4-star photo, you actually need to focus more on a Drampa rather than the adorable grass-type Pokémon. All the player needs to do is throw an Illumina Orb onto a Drampa in the summer and head to the Sunny Area of the Elsewhere Forest. If everything goes the way you want, then you'll see a Bulbasaur riding on top of Drampa. Its a pretty cute thing to see and even better to take a photo of!

Charmander

Luckily, Charmander can be found around the same time as Bulbasaur. This fire type can be located in the Fireflow Volcano on the Voluca island. The player can grab a photo of Charmander from research level one in that specific location, but they do need to look around the end section of the map, just before the teleportation point. If the player misses Charmander in this location, then they can go into a mandatory room in rank two's alternative route and snap it there. It will typically walk up to the player on the second attempt and be a little more friendly. Ultimately, this starter is hardly challenging to grab a photo of and even easier to find, as long as you head to the volcano.

There are quite a few ways to get a 4-star photo of Charmander. The first is where the player needs to throw an Illumina Orb at the Charmander talking with Archeops to get it to unleash a Flamethrower and quickly take a photo. The second is to get a picture of the Charmander growling at Charizard after luring them out in the main volcano. Alternatively, the player could try to grab a photo of Charmander using Flame Burst by feeding it two Fluffruit. It's not the easiest thing, but at least there are a few ways and they're all in the Fireflow Volcano, meaning you don't need to travel too far to get a beautiful shot of this fan-favorite pokémon.

Squirtle

A Squirtle riding a Lapras in New Pokemon Snap.

This cute little water type seems to be pretty popular with the creators of Pokémon since it can be found in all three locations on the lovely Maricopia islands. It's a really really common Pokémon to take photos of and is found riding Lapras on Blushing Beach and is on quite a few platforms in the Maricopia Reef. Squirtle is also often seen around the seaweed section in the Lental Undersea too. Ultimately, players won't have to try too hard to grab a nice shot of this adorable water type.

The 4-star photo isn't as easy as the other Kanto starters, but it is still achievable. It's easiest to take the photo while in the Round and Round quest. First, the player needs to head to the whirlpool in the Reef during the evening. Then, throw a fluffruit near the Squirtle that's overlooking said whirlpool. Pretty soon after, a Wingull will try to grab the fluffruit and end up knocking the poor water type, therefore sending the Squirtle tumbling into the whirlpool. It may feel a little mean to take a photo of Squirtle in distress, but, if you can grab a nice closeup, you'll get a 4-star diamond photo.
