The Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is full of old and new creatures alike, and some of the interactions between different species may be hinting towards a new entry in the Pokémon Snap spinoff series. 2021’s New Pokémon Snap was a long-awaited sequel that massively expanded upon the 1999 original by showing Pokémon interacting in their natural habitats. However, a new game could go even further.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's new Pokédex features a host of new dynamics between Pokémon, which makes for a more diverse array of interactions than in past entries. As a trainer, players can venture out into the new open-world region of Paldea and observe Pokémon in a way previous games haven't depicted. This proves to be one of the better additions to Scarlet and Violet, but there are some Pokémon in particular that show why it might be more home in a Pokémon Snap sequel.

Scarlet & Violet's Tinkatink Would Be Right At Home In New Pokémon Snap 2

Tinkatink and its evolutions make up one of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s new evolution lines, and their Pokédex entries are full of fun quirks that would fit perfectly in a Pokémon Snap game. The cute hammer wielders are said to prey on Pawniard and Corviknight in order to build their giant weapons. Corviknight should have been in New Pokémon Snap in the first place, but it would be hilarious to actually see this specific interaction in motion and taking pictures of it.

Applin, Teddiursa, & More Scarlet & Violet Pokémon Would Be Perfect In Another Pokémon Snap Game

Applin in battle on Sword & Shield

Applin was one of the few Gen 8 Pokémon to appear in New Pokémon Snap, and was given a reason to appear in a future series. Noibat’s Pokédex entry states that it uses ultrasonic waves to search for fruit that it can eat, but it often mistakes Applin for its food. Pokémon eating each other is not a strange concept, as a Wurmple in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is afraid that his teammate, a Swellow, will end up eating him. When evolving into Appletun, Applin switches from prey to predator, using its sweet smell to attract and then eat small Bug-types.

Teddiursa and Ursaring received a final evolution in Ursaluna for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, although it doesn't appear in Scarlet and Violet. However, Teddiursa gets an interesting Pokédex entry in Gen 9. Its Pokémon Scarlet Pokédex entry states that Teddiursa will discreetly follow Combee to their hives in order to get their paws on the honey inside. If this were to make its way into a Pokémon Snap game, could even lead to a humorous exchange where a Vespiquen spots the honey thief and unleashes its wrath on the little bear.

Debuting in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Buizel’s Scarlet Pokédex entry states that its tails are capable of cutting through seaweed. This could then interact with how Skrelp is said to hide in drifting seaweed. Buizel could accidentally end up cutting Skrelp, leading to a fight between the two. Another aquatic Pokémon at risk of being attacked in Scarlet and Violet is Arrokuda, which can be caught in Paldea's South Province in Scarlet and Violet. Sluggish members of that species will likely be targeted by flocks of Wattrel, a new Pokémon. These interactions could make for a very violent seafaring adventure in a potential Pokémon Snap sequel.

Although it is unknown if there will be another Pokémon Snap game in the future, it is clear that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have provided a decent amount of material for any sequels to pull from. Ideally, a new game in the series would provide a great way to see both new and old Pokémon in a more natural environment than players are used to seeing. If nothing else, it’s possible that some of the interactions listed in the Pokédex may find their way into the Pokémon anime.
