The upcoming X-Men spinoff New Mutants is currently casting principal roles, and a new casting call has started some speculation to whether the mutants Armor and Karma will be involved in the film.

Set to be released in under a year, director Josh Boone's superhero movie will begin filming in July. We know that Game of ThronesMaisie Williams and The Witch's Anya-Taylor Joy will be headlining the cast as mutants Wolfsbane and Magik, respectively. The cast around them is starting to round out too, and a new listing from the company Project Casting is looking to cast two more key roles for the film.

Courtesy of Omega Underground, the casting call features two descriptions of roles that 20th Century Fox need to fill. The first is clearly for a young version of Taylor-Joy's Magik character, meaning New Mutants will flashback to her youth at some point:

YOUNG ANNA – Female, 9 – 12; preferably blonde, or willing to temporary color; Russian accent or Russian language skills.

The second call needing to be filled is where the speculation comes in, as Fox is looking an Asian young adult for a major role:

YOUNG FEMALE – 18 to 22 years old; Asian

Scheduled to shoot in MA for one or more days between 7/20 and 8/16.

The two most popular theories for who the role could be are heroes Armor and Karma. Armor, aka Hisako Ichiki, has the power to create an indestructible and impenetrable exoskeleton around her body. Karma, aka Xi'an Coy Manh, was an original member of the New Mutants in their first comic book iteration. She has the power to take possession of someone's mind and will them to do what she wants.

These are just rumors relating to the role description, as the studio could be looking for a number of other characters like Lady Deathstrike (who first appeared in X2). Given that Karma is a major member of the New Mutants, that rumor at least certainly seems to have  credibility. The role doesn't seem to be a major one, as the main team seems to have all been cast around the same time, but it's a juicy supporting role with which a good young actress could potentially do a lot.

Beyond Williams and Taylor-Joy, the confirmed main team is filled out by Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball13 Reasons Why's Henry Zaga as Roberto de Costa/Sunspot, and newcomer Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage. We also know that Daredevil's Rosario Dawson will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, while James McAvoy won't reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier.
