To wet the appetites of you Twilight fans out there (more than we already have), we have New Moon star Michael Sheen talking about his role as head vampire Aro, as well as a behind-the-scenes video from the set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Empire got a chance to have a chat with Sheen about his role in New Moon - playing the head of an ancient vampire coven known as the Volturi, who are basically vampire royalty.
Sheen is not exactly going to slam the movie he's just finished working on, but his positive comments about New Moon certainly lend credit to the movie. Before we get to the behind-the-scenes video, take a look at what Sheen had to say about New Moon:
"I'm all done on it; I had a great time... It was nice to go in and not be playing the main part, just go in for a few days and play this really really extraordinary character. I remember I was thinking, 'Oh, there's a bit of a Child Catcher here [from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang]; bit of the Blue Meanie from The Yellow Submarine; bit of Olivier from Richard III. There was a bit of all kinds of stuff."
"It was great to work with Chris Weitz; it was a really funny set, really relaxed... It was quite intimidating being on the set with so many young, beautiful people. That was quite extraordinary being the old, ugly one amongst loads of young, beautiful ones. It's not something I'm used to really. Not because I'm young and beautiful but usually there's loads of old, ugly people around me. It was quite encouraging to see how Robert [Pattinson] and Kristin [Stewart] are committed to it, how much they put into it and how serious they are about it. They don't take it lightly at all so that was great to see."
A lot of you out there may know that Sheen's role as Aro in New Moon won't be the first time he's been in the company of vampires - he starred in the three Underworld movies as the the werewolf Lucian. Three movies facing off against vampires should have given him plenty of background on how to play one.
Now onto the promised behind-the-scenes video from the set of New Moon. It comes our way courtesy of Access Hollywood. Check it out by clicking the link below:
Although the lastest trailer for New Moon that premiered at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards left a lot of people underwhelmed (myself included), I am still looking forward to the film. I hope what Lautner says in that behind-the-scenes video - about there being more action this time around - is true, because although I dug a lot of what Twilight had to offer, the lack of action was a problem for me.
What do you think about what Michael Sheen said about his role as head vampire Aro in New Moon? What about the behind-the-scenes video?
The Twilight Saga: New Moon is scheduled to be released on November 20, 2009 in the US, and on November 27, 2009 in the UK.
