Spoilers for Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal Infinity Comic #1 ahead

A new Infinity Comic, the scrolling-style comic released exclusively on Marvel Comics' Unlimited App, sees the return of the classic Timely Comic characters Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal in a raunchy, curse-filled new story arc.

First debuting in 1942's Krazy Komics #1 by Timely Comics, the predecessor to Marvel Comics, Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal were created by cartoonist Al Jaffee and the quirky duo quickly became the stars of Timely's child-focused comedy lineup. Since 1947 the classic anthropomorphic pig and seal have only been seen in single-issue appearances or cameos, at least until 2019's Ziggy Pig - Silly Seal Comics one-shot brought the back into the modern age of Marvel Comics.

Written by Frank Tieri and John Cerilli with art by Jacob Chabot Ziggy Pig - Silly Seal Comics (2019) saw the irreverent duo returning in a much more mature format, turning them into Who Framed Roger Rabbit?-like animal characters, engaging with the "real world" with disturbingly hilarious violence and cursing. Now, the same creators of Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal's 2019 comeback, which saw the two working with Doctor Doom to regain their fame, have teamed up once again to bring the hilarious and lightly disturbing Timely Comics characters into the spotlight with the new Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal Infinity Comic which picks up directly after the end of the 2019 one-shot. In an interview with Marvel, Frank Tieri describes how after Ziggy and Silly seemed to orchestrate an in-universe comeback for themselves, "Well now, as what happens with a lot of celebrity comebacks, things have stalled. They're not getting the gigs they were getting, endorsements have dried up…they're essentially yesterday's news already."

Ziggy Pig Silly Seal Infinity Comic

The first issue hilariously shows a television ad for the classic Marvel supervillain The Trapster's new "Paste-Pot Pete's Pulsating Palace of Pork" restaurant, during which Spider-Ham pops up on screen giving a celebrity endorsement for the restaurant, even going so far as to eat a piece of pork himself, to which Ziggy angrily declares, "That's pig-on-pig crime!" With the series debut already featuring a handful more censored curse words than even the most racy of Marvel superhero comics, Tieri has promised that whatever Ziggy and Silly do to try and regain their relevance will be "pretty dumb and reckless," and most likely NSFW as well. The 2019 one-shot featured hilarious cameos from characters like Deadpool and Doctor Doom, who turned out to be a big fan of the animal duo, and their new Infinity Comic will have plenty of cameos as well. With the recent influx in animal-based Infinity Comics, such as Jeff the Land Shark, Alligator Loki, and Lucky the Pizza Dog, Ziggy and Silly have more competition than ever, and Tieri has already promised that, "Pet Avengers, Howard the Duck, Jeff the Land Shark, Hit-Monkey, Pizza Dog, Cosmo the Space Dog, Alligator Loki," will all make appearances in the ongoing series, along with cameos from other Marvel heroes and villains.

Anyone who likes classic irreverent comedies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? or Space Jam will surely love the return darkly hilarious resurrection of Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal, two Timely Comics characters whose antics truly have to be seen to be believed.
