Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Timeless (2022) #1In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' new Timeless one-shot, Kang the Conqueror faces his biggest challenge yet, facing a team of new heroes literally built to destroy him. Searching for a seemingly inaccessible piece of time known as "The Missing Moment", Kang believes that this moment is the first step to a prize that's only given to the ultimate adventurer. However, Kang's efforts are thwarted thanks to Marvel's new Twilight Court.

In the second annual Timeless one-shot from Jed MacKay, Greg Land, Jay Leisten, Patch Zircher, and Salvador Larroca, Kang comes face to face with Myrddin, a mysterious new rival who is also after the "Missing Moment". Having come to the same conclusion Kang has that only heroes can locate the moment after facing a series of tribulation events, Myrddin has created an entire team known as the Twilight Court, advanced counterparts inspired by the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Marvel's New Twilight Court Was Created To Kill Kang

Marvel's New Twilight Court in Kang's Timeless

After facing each member of the Twilight Court and jumping through time (complete with teases for what's to come in 2023), Kang wins a trial by combat against Artur's greatest champion Parsifal. This forces Myrddin to get his hands dirty and stab Kang in the back, a strike that has potentially killed the Conqueror after being so worn down by the rest of the Twilight Court. However, Kang used his last bit of technology to transport himself to null-time, enacting a final plan should he indeed die from his wounds.

By the issue's end, Myrddin teases that his quest for the "Missing Moment" will continue now that he's seemingly removed Kang from the equation. Likewise, he also suggests that the Conqueror would have been quite surprised had Kang known whom he was actually dealing with. Could Myrddin perhaps be a variation of Kang himself similar to Immortus or Rama-Tut?

Seeking his own heroes to attain the "Missing Moment", it's clear that Kang the Conqueror's rivalry with Myrddin is far from over. It's even possible that Kang might even recruit a new version of the Avengers, though time will tell as Marvel heads into the new year. Timeless (2022) #1 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
