DC is officially entering a New Golden Age, and the original Justice League - the Justice Society of America - are forming a new team to fight for their past, present, and future. Fans have long demanded new JSA adventures with relevance to the wider DC Universe, and now they're getting exactly what they asked for in incredible style.

November will see the launch of the one-shot New Golden Age #1 from Geoff Johns, Steve Lieber, Jerry Ordway, and Diego Olortegui. This story will kick off multiple series under the 'New Golden Age' banner, as time itself comes under attack following Batman's tampering with reality in Flashpoint Beyond. Having recently re-formed to take on the Great Darkness in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, the JSA are back in the spotlight... just in time to come under devastating attack.

Beginning November 22, Justice Society of America will see the classic hero team take on a villain who is somehow attacking their very history. A new team will form to answer this unprecedented threat, with writer Geoff Johns carrying on an epic story that he began with Flashpoint Beyond, and stunning art from Batman's Mikel Janín. It seems this series will bring the Gotham hero Huntress back to prominence, as the Bat-Family's original black sheep begins a new mission of cosmic importance. Enjoy the issue's official synopsis below, along with cover art from Janín and Jerry Ordway.

DC's New Golden Age is explicitly about exploring the forgotten lore and overlooked characters fans adore, meaning that even as the JSA's history comes under attack, it's likely to be given a fresh new life. That's particularly guaranteed as the ultra-powerful Time Masters enter the picture - an ostensibly heroic group who nevertheless view the integrity of hypertime as more important than even the JSA's continued survival. A long-lost member will apparently travel through time to reassemble the team, and there will be some fan-favorite faces still on the roster. Johns states:

There will be familiar faces re-joining the team, like Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, as well as long-lost members returning, like Beth Chapel and Yolanda Montez, and a new Golden Age legacy hero first hinted at in the end of Flashpoint Beyond. Mikel Janin is doing the work of his career on this.

While the Justice Society of America may no longer have the star power of their Justice League counterparts, that fact opens the door to stories where anything can happen, from major deaths to heroes finally passing on the mantle - with a new JSA legacy hero promised in this series. Fans have been demanding a truly significant Justice Society of America story for years, and with the New Golden Age, they're finally getting what they wanted, as the heroes who inspired the Justice League face a threat to their very identity.

Justice Society of America #1 is coming from DC Comics November 22.
