The legacy and history of DC's maddest love affair is being re-imagined in the pages of Joker/Harley: Criminal Sanity, taking a mature approach to the story of a monstrous serial killer stalking the streets of Gotham, and the brilliant forensic psychiatrist determined to catch him. And as proof of what's possible under DC Black Label, the creative team has cooked up a new, skin-crawling version of Joker, too.

The new series strikes at a time when more people than ever are consuming serial killer mysteries, true crime podcasts, documentaries, and dramatizations. So the time is right for writer Kami Garcia's Criminal Sanity to create a new Joker from the ground up. Not a comic book fantasy, and not a lunatic embracing utter chaos, detached from reality. Instead, Garcia and her artists are showing how a Joker could be born right alongside everyday people. It started with his motivations and psychological profile, but has now taken a different turn, with the first looks at Joker revealed by DC, as rendered by artists Mike Mayhew, Mico Suayan and Jason Badower.
