Following the announcement that Jinxworld will be leaving DC Comics for Dark Horse Comics, artist Jacob Edgar has teased a new series from the imprint with writer Brian Michael Bendis. In a recent tweet, Edgar hinted at the upcoming series with an attached image of page layouts.

Since 1994, Jinxworld has promoted creator-owned comics such as Goldfish, Jinx, and Powers among others. Titles allowed writers and artists to tell stories beyond the mainstream superhero comics that they had been expected to create. The line of comics hasn’t released titles consistently, but it seems like a new series is in store later this year. Most known for Ultimate Spider-Man, Brian Michael Bendis recently wrote for Superman and Justice League. Now, he is coming back to the creator-owned imprint, working alongside Dark Horse Comics. At the moment, he is writing a new series called Joy Operations with artist Stephen Byrne.

Jacob Edgar (Death To The Army of Darkness, Red Sonja) will be the next creator to join Brian Michael Bendis with a new series in the Jinxworld line. This past week, Edgar tweeted blank page layouts, saying, “Sneak peek at the upcoming project from me, @BRIANMBENDIS and @DarkHorseComics What could it be??? 🤔🤐" Bendis replied to the tweet, jokingly saying, "In retrospect, I should have included panel descriptions.” It has been speculated that there will be one or two new series which will soon be announced for Jinxworld to debut later this year with Dark Horse.

Jinxworld

Considering Jinxworld’s vastly different storylines from title to title, it’s impossible to predict the series that Edgar and Bendis have in store for readers. Previously, Powers popularized the imprint with a world of superheroes as seen through the perspective of police, with artist Michael Avon Oeming accompanying Bendis’ writing. In 2018, the Eisner Award nominated Cover debuted with a story by Bendis and art by David Mack. The series explored the comic book history as it was revealed that creators were being recruited by a secret agency.

As the new Jinxworld titles are announced, the imprint is receiving multiple trade paperback releases, collecting past series such as The Pearl and Powers: The Best Ever. The Pearl’s trade paperback will release in March before a second volume in April. Powers: The Best Ever released in January, allowing new readers an opportunity to be introduced to Jinxworld’s most popular title. Jinxworld’s Joy Operations will begin in November. Since the imprint has signed onto Dark Horse Comics, it’s likely many new series will follow, starting either later this year or 2023.
