November will mark the beginning of a New Golden Age for DC Comics, as Batman's tampering with the timestream kicks off a slate of new titles, a new Justice Society of America, and a huge mystery reaching back through the publisher's long history. It all kicks off with the upcoming The New Golden Age #1, which will stretch from the superheroes of the 1940s to the distant future of the 3040s, exposing the 'secret history of heroism.'

In the ongoing Flashpoint Beyond, Bruce Wayne's Batman is tampering with time, inviting the wrath of the Time Masters as he risks all existence, seemingly to save his alt-universe father. Fans don't yet know if he'll be successful or not, but it seems the consequences of his attempts to meddle with time will be huge, as the effects of Flashpoint Beyond ripple across DC's timeline, exposing some truly dark secrets.

It seems that the New Golden Age will be used to celebrate those fan-favorite heroes who are often pushed out of the spotlight, with stories focusing on everyone from the Justice Society of America to the Legion of Super-Heroes, and a mandate to dig into the forgotten corners of DC lore. Speaking on the new series that will spin out of this one-shot, writer Geoff Johns says:

I’m happy to be writing these two titles, each one of them focused on celebrating and expanding the history (and far future) of heroism in the DC Universe, exploring unseen heroes, villains and adventures alongside the ones we all know and love. Our goal is to delve into the neglected corners of DC with this new group of titles, from the JSA to the Legion, and all those who operate between. It’s the story of where superheroes came from, where they’re going and why they’re always needed.

Originally existing in a separate reality and now presented as the first generation of costumed heroes, the JSA no longer get the same attention as the Justice League, but that just gives them the scope to tell even more ambitious, character-focused stories. DC fans have been demanding more JSA adventures for some time now, and it seems that the publisher has found the perfect way to ensure their relevance, as Flashpoint Beyond results in a mystery spanning all of DC canon. Fans can mark the date when The New Golden Age releases November 11, kicking off DC's new group of cross-time titles.
