You've likely heard of the many colors of Lanterns, including Green Lanterns, Red Lanterns, and even White Lanterns that patrol the DC Universe. However, a new hero is joining the ranks of the Lanterns with an all-new color. DC Comics revealed that a Gold Lantern is set to debut in the pages of Legion of Super-Heroes.

Brian Michael Bendis' Legion of Super-Heroes has seen a handful of new characters becoming members of the Legionnaires, which are heroes from the 31th century. Previously, Bendis revealed a new version of Doctor Fate, and he's teased a Gold Lantern in the past. Now, we've got a new look at the new Gold Lantern. On his Instagram page, Bendis shared a new image of the Gold Lantern by artist Ryan Sook.

The new Gold Lantern has quite an intriguing look. Obviously, he's got a gold suit with a gold mask. But, the new character is wearing two separate rings - one provided by the (assumed) Gold Lantern Corps, and another one provided by the Legion of Super-Heroes. Considering the book is set in the distant future, it's definitely possible a new color of Lanterns has emerged or perhaps, an old one has folded together. Is this a heroic evolution of the Yellow Lanterns? It remains to be seen, but we can't wait to find out the Gold Lanterns origin.

The new Gold Lantern will make his debut alongside two other new characters, including the new version of Doctor Fate, and a hero called Monster Boy, who might be an evolution on the popular Beast Boy. Even though the book is set in the far future, it's great to see the lineup of DC heroes expand. The Legion of Super-Heroes is the perfect book to play around with continuity and try new takes on old characters - which makes Gold Lantern perfect for the series. Hopefully, like the newest Green Lantern Sojourner "Jo" Mullein, the Gold Lantern can bring something fresh to the table.
