Schmidt is certainly one of the most iconic characters in New Girl. He is unique but the personality trait that fans seem to jump to first when discussing him is his elite humor. Schmidt has a way to be hilarious without even trying, as it comes naturally to him through his unique choice of rhetoric and overall mannerisms.

He's funny from the very beginning, even if he goes through some serious changes throughout the series. At first, he is more of a bro-type, but he blossoms into an eccentric family man with a heart of gold. No matter what season the audience watches, though, he never fails to bring upon laughs. This is especially the case when looking back at his most memorable funny scenes, as some people even regard them as among the best from the show in general.

When He Meets Nick

Nick and Schmidt together in college

The friendship between Nick and Schmidt is outstanding. It starts off with a bang, too, as Schmidt just shows up in Nick's dorm room. It also is important to note that he is eating Nick's dry ramen in the process.

Nick is understandably cold at first, as a stranger just barges into his room and takes his food. Yet, Schmidt stays warm and goofy, which makes Nick begin to like him. When the two start vibing, the scene ends with Schmidt body-slamming him.

When He Slaps Spencer

Spencer may be a complete jerk in the series, but he is the reason Jess ends up moving into the loft. He of course cheats on Jess, which results in her having to go back to their house to get her stuff back.

Spencer tries to convince her to leave her TV there, which prompts the guys to stand up for her. Schmidt is the true hero in the scene, as he ends up slapping Spencer in the face and letting out the famous line, "Schmidt happens."

When He Freaks Out About His Shower Towel

Schmidt angry about someone using his towel

In this episode, Schmidt is livid over the fact that somebody keeps using his towel. The dampness of the towel physically makes him feel sick, so he tries to narrow down who is using it. While doing so, he forces everyone in the loft to go into the bathroom multiple times.

Jess suggests they all have separate towel racks, which Schmidt approves of. Yet, his towel is still wet after this, but Nick later tells him that it is his towel. This is also where Nick reveals that he does not wash the towel, as it washes him. Schmidt's grossed-out facial expressions really make this scene hilarious, too.

Schmidt reacting angrily at Nick's cookie gift

After buying Nick a cookie at the grocery store, Nick is immensely cold and unappreciative of the gesture. This naturally hurts Schmidt, and he openly expresses his displeasure. Winston even takes Schmidt's side, as Nick just does not understand why he is being hurtful.

Nick gets Schmidt a cookie for him and makes it into a star, but the latter expresses deep discontent towards it. His reaction is hilarious, as he says "this is terrible" in a very distinctive manner. Thankfully, though, the two end up making up shortly after when Nick apologizes and cries about missing him.

When He Hits Nick With His Car

When the gang finds out that they have a parking spot, they all fight over it. It eventually leads to Nick, Schmidt, and Jess all racing to the spot. Nick ends up being the individual who makes it there first, so he expects to have won it.

However, the primary issue in this obstacle is that he does not have his car. So, Schmidt slowly pushes him out of the spot with his car, which is just irrational behavior. Yet, his determination and intense facial expressions bring upon great laughs in the scene.

When He Asks Nick For Romantic Advice

When everyone's favorite duo is in college, it is clear that Schmidt asks Nick for guidance quite often. A great example of this is when Schmidt is about to experience his first time with Elizabeth and comes to Nick for romantic advice.

The conversation is especially humorous, as Schmidt puts on an act and makes it seem like he has dated a lot. He also makes up a funny nickname for himself about his fake previous dating ventures, too. The end result of the conversation results in Nick saying that Schmidt is hurting his vibe and Schmidt responds with, "You're the coolest Nick!"

When He Does Parkour

Schmidt is quite the athlete, and he displays this when he partakes in parkour. After Schmidt gets Cece to sleep in his bed, he becomes very excited over the fact that she is a model. This is before they date, so she does not have any romantic interest in him at this point.

However, Schmidt sees this as a massive win and cannot control himself, so he jumps up the wall and screams "Parkour!" It is a silly scene, but one that certainly never fails to make the audience laugh.

"Treachery!"

Schmidt catches Cece and Coach snooping in his apartment

When Schmidt begins to date Jess' sister, Abby, Cece is very concerned. Abby is known for being rambunctious and she is already living in Schmidt's apartment just days into their relationship. Cece's mistrust leads her to snoop around Schmidt's place with Coach accompanying her.

While going through his stuff, Schmidt randomly shouts "Treachery!" This leads to Coach screaming in fear, and then Schmidt gives off another one of his overly dramatic monologues. This specific line, though, is easily one of his most memorable because of his delivery.

When He Dances To Britney Spears

When Schmidt moves out, it becomes very clear that he misses his loft roommates. His new apartment is also right across the hall from them, so he often goes over unannounced. However, when he doesn't, he often secretly listens to what they are up to.

This is especially the case when Coach is training Nick in the loft. Coach plays "Work" by Britney Spears, which leads to Schmidt dancing alone in his apartment. He even spins around his kitchen towel before the song's breakdown, while his face is puckered up and his eyes are closed.

When He Roasts Nick With Winston

When Nick prepares to marry Jess, he chooses Schmidt and Winston as his best men. However, instead of a traditional toast at the wedding shower, the pair end up roasting Nick.

Ultimately, the routine is just atrocious, as they both tell such unfunny jokes about Nick. This leads the guests at the party to not laugh and it is overall just so awkward. Yet, it becomes funny because the two think they do a great job.
